Merging two decks

I recently asked about combining two decks. As suggested I tried to change the Note typ of one Deck (Nebenfächer ZM) to the other (Hauptfächer ZM) and bulk suggest all notes. That first seemed to work (as i also rearranged the decks in anki simultaneously). But taking a look at AnkiHub reveals, that there are still both decks. So checking again the Notetype of all previously changed Notes (Nebenfächer ZM) were changed back after syncing…

Im honestly at my whits end here and fear somehow deleting a deck or something.

Would changing the Type to a simple card (not anki) delete the cards history, then changing the type into the new deck (Hauptfächer ZM) and then suggesting them work?
So to speak in order to wipe the cards clean?
Or would that delete my learning progress…

I dont believe changing the note type would result in loss of card history.

Are all the Nebenfacher ZM cards in the Hauptfacher deck? or no?

You can retry what you did previously, but also delete the Nebenfacher deck on AnkiHub after all cards have been suggested and accepted into the Hauptfacher deck

If anything were to happen you can restore from a backup

Also, if it reverted, this might have been because you clicked on download from ankiweb and not upload to ankiweb. Can you confirm what you pressed?

Alle the Nebenfächer cards are now in the corresponding Hauptfächer deck in Anki but not in AnkiHub.
Im sure I first pressed upload but later while trying sth I pressed download on another device.

The cards i changed and suggested simply didn’t show up in the Hauptfächer Deck on AnkiHub and are still only in the Nebenfächer Deck…

Ill retry with a single card as an experiment

I just read the pop up message after suggesting after changing the type. It seems to register the suggestion as a change and not a new note.

This means that the note should be in the new deck. Can you confirm that the old card from Nebenfacher is now in Hauptfacher? (click on view on ankihub)

Were you able to change the note type to Hauptfacher and suggest new notes to the Hauptfaucher deck?

Does it allow you or cause an error?

Another solution might be, but is irreversible on AnkiHub is

• Delete the Nebenfacher deck on AnkiHub (your cards locally will stay)
• Change all Nebenfacher card note types to Hauptfacher (since now the nebenfacher cards are not linked to ankihub)
• Suggest those notes now to the hauptfacher deck and accept without review

I was able to change the note type (even after synchronizing and choosing upload to anki web) but the note still shows up in the old deck when I click “view on AnkiHub”

I believe deleting the old deck would most likely fix this issue but I am honestly not sure

You can try but deleting a deck is irreversible in AnkiHub, however, you will still retain the cards

I have backed up every deck individually beforehand. So I can try some stuff. Do you have an idea why the suggesting is failing?

It worked as follows:

• Deleting the Deck on AnkiHub
• Changing the note type of all the cards to a simple non AnkiHub type
• Synchronizing and uploading
• Restarting Anki
• Changing the note type to the new desired deck
• Bulk suggesting the cards
