Messed up settings?

I started studying for step 1 lately and I had a plan and I unsuspended about 15k cards based on that plan, and studied about 300 cards, now I changed my plan, suspended a lot of previous cards and unsuspended 9k. after doing that, my scheduling got weird, new cards will show ”good” at 8 days! it was 1 day. Although I didn’t change settings at all, so what can I do for that please? thanks!

Hello,

Suspending and unsuspending flashcards doesn’t affect your scheduling or settings at all. What might be happening is that the cards you unsuspended aren’t actually new and already have some scheduling history. If you are certain they are new and you’re seeing an interval of 8 days, this could just be due to the algorithm’s optimization.

If your retention rate is where you want it to be (for example, mine is 90%), you can just keep trusting the algorithm.

Hello,

So to remove any doubts, I deleted all of ny decks (I lost progress to 200 cards but thought whatever), reinstalled them from ankihub, and now I have anking deck, and 100 concept deck. Both having same preset settings exactly as provided by Ankihub. However, 100 concept deck new cards have different steps than anking deck!!! I’ll attach a small video to illustrate.

I would reeeallly appreciate your help! Thanks in advance!

Hello,

  1. Both decks use the same preset, but one issue is that the settings aren’t being applied to the subdecks. This is particularly relevant for the “100 Concepts of Anatomy” deck. By default, the AnKing Step deck doesn’t really have subdecks.

Go to your deck settings and click here:

  1. Once you’ve done that, it’s normal to see some variation in intervals because that’s how FSRS works; however, the “Again” interval should be nearly identical for every card.

I’ve done exactly what you mentioned.

I just want to make sure, is it normal to have the “Again” interval the same for both decks, and Good interval at 2 days for both decks, is that within normal limits? or 2 days are a lot?

If that’s how FSRS works then that’s fine, if not please help me identify the problem, because I want to get going with the Anking deck.

The “Again” interval is not defined by FSRS; it is defined in your settings. And yes, it’s okay to have the same interval for both decks, including the “Good” interval. It is completely within normal limits. Whether an interval feels like a lot is highly relative, but yours is very common. As you continue studying with FSRS, it will adjust to best adapt to you.
