Hey! I accidentally downloaded the asking mcat deck when I had the miles down deck, and it seemed to merge some of the cards etc and the layout. I was wondering how I can start fresh and just have the ANKING mcat deck rather than having it merged and having it all weird.
I’ll help you with deleting your old deck and getting a fresh installation of the AnKing MCAT deck through AnkiHub. Let me search for some relevant information first.

Hello Anirudhmepperla! ![]()
It sounds like you want to start fresh with just the AnKing MCAT deck without any interference from your previously installed Miles Down deck. Here’s how to do that:
Step 1: Delete the Current Merged Deck
First, you’ll need to delete the current merged deck:
- In Anki, go to “AnkiHub” add-on → “Deck Management”
- Find the AnKing MCAT deck
- Click “Unsubscribe”
- Then go to your main Anki screen and delete the deck that contains the merged cards
You can also follow this official tutorial: How to Delete an AnkiHub Deck
Step 2: Reinstall ONLY the AnKing MCAT Deck
After deleting, you can download a fresh copy:
- Go to app.ankihub.net and make sure you have an active AnkiHub membership
- Subscribe to the AnKing MCAT Deck
- Open Anki and click “Sync” - this will install the fresh deck without any prior merging issues
- Follow the installation prompts to complete the process
If you encounter any issues during installation, you can find detailed instructions in the AnKing MCAT Deck Wiki.
The MCAT deck should install with approximately 6,436 cards and will include all the proper organization with tags like #AK_MCAT_v2 that you can use to organize your studying.
Let me know if you need any further help with the installation process!
I see you’re having an issue reinstalling the AnKing MCAT deck. That error message indicates there’s still some data from the previous installation that might be causing conflicts.
Let me help you with a more thorough cleanup process:
Complete Reset Process
-
First, make sure Anki is closed
-
Reset your AnkiHub local changes:
- Open Anki
- Go to the AnkiHub add-on menu (top bar)
- Select “Reset All Local Changes”
- Confirm the reset
-
Completely unsubscribe from the deck:
- In Anki, go to AnkiHub → Deck Management
- Find the AnKing MCAT deck
- Click “Unsubscribe”
- Close Anki completely
-
Log into AnkiHub website:
- Visit app.ankihub.net
- Go to your subscriptions and confirm you’ve unsubscribed from the MCAT deck
-
Delete the deck and check database:
- Reopen Anki
- Delete the problematic deck completely
- Go to Tools → Check Database
- Then go to Tools → Empty Cards
- Restart Anki one more time
-
Fresh subscription:
- Go back to app.ankihub.net
- Subscribe to the AnKing MCAT deck again
- Open Anki and sync
This complete reset process should eliminate any lingering data or conflicts from your previous installation. If you continue to experience issues, you might need to try a more extreme approach like creating a new Anki profile just for your MCAT studies, which would guarantee a clean slate.
Let me know if this works for you!
Hello,
I would be happy to help. ![]()
Because the Miledown deck and AnKing deck share a lineage, it won’t be possible to have both decks in your collection simultaneously without them overwriting and/or conflicting. This is due to how the Anki software encodes and recognizes cards that share a lineage, unfortunately
Your best bet, since the AnKing MCAT deck contains, and has extensively updated, the Miledown deck would likely be to delete both and install the AnKing clean on its own. That would be my recommendation
Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with. ![]()
Thank you! I got it fixed. I have one more question: Is there any way to remove the tags at the bottom of the screen from displaying when you view the answer? I am trying to click on the Khan Academy link; however, the tags are covering it. I have attached a screenshot.
Hello,
Yes.
- Download and install this add-on: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/952691989
- After it’s installed, restart Anki.
Then on your Anki main screen go to AnKing > AnKing Note Types. Find the tags tab and disable the tags container:
Make sure to save the changes.
