Hello, everyone! We hope you all had a happy and spooky halloween! We’re excited to share some updates and improvements we’ve been working on! A big thank you to @jakub.f, @pedroven, @MarynaMoraes, @augusto.diebold, @heitor, @carolcani for their hard work
-
We are excited to welcome a new software engineer to the AnkiHub team. Big shout out to @claudio who will be joining the engineering leadership team! He will be working closely with all of our software engineers and the product team to help keep things running smoothly. We couldn’t be happier to have Claudio joining us!
-
Additionally, we’ve added a functionality to suspend all new cards from new notes in Anki config via the addon. Keeping your decks just the way you prefer!
-
The add-on deck settings dialog has been redesigned for a smoother user experience and includes an option to set new cards syncing options individually per deck. Convenience at your fingertips! (See more details below!)
-
Our suggestions notifications now also include the rationale in the message, for clearer communication.
-
All existing and new users now have an account on the community forum! Get ready to discover more ways to connect with your fellow Anki students!
-
We’ve updated our username creation rules to integrate with our forum and provide improved security. Additionally, an alert has been added to the login page for users who had their username changed during this integration to keep everyone in the loop!
-
We spotted and squashed a minor bug with the database check, improving our system’s overall performance!
-
We’ve integrated our AnkiHub likes system with the likes and dislikes reactions of Discourse - connecting your interactions across platforms.
Improved Subscribed Decks Dialogue
We made a huge change in what we once called the “subscribed decks” dialog, now called Deck management. We added a few new options for deck settings and made some changes to old ones.
-
On top of the dialog, we have a Browse Decks button that opens Ankihub, and right beside it we have the Create Ankihub Deck.
-
Now, we show a list of the Subscribed Ankihub Decks and their options on the right. Each deck has its individual options. You must select a Deck on this list to see its options.
-
You can open the selected deck on Ankihub and also unsubscribe to it.
-
On Deck Options, you can set the configurations for the selected deck.
- Suspend new cards of existing notes: That’s an old feature that we moved here, and now you can choose this behavior for each deck individually.
- Suspend new cards of new notes: That’s a whole new feature, and you can also choose this behavior for each deck individually.
- Enable Subdecks: That’s an old feature that you can check if you want to enable subdecks for the selected deck. Note that this option is only available if the selected deck has subdecks.
- Destination for New Cards: The old “Set Homedeck” feature. We changed the name to be more self-explanatory and easy to understand. But no worries, the behavior is the same! You can select another deck to get the new cards from the selected deck.

What’s next?!
Community forum integration improvements
- Soon deck creators will be able to engage their subscribers directly on the community by posting deck updates!
- Deck maintainers will be able to collaborate on their documentation, tutorials, etc, with wikis right here on the community!
AI
We are working hard on prototyping some super exciting GPT-powered features such as:
- Semantic search
- Finding duplicates/similar notes
- AI chat support
- Finding relevant Anki cards based on your documents such as notes, PDFs, etc
- And much more! Stay tuned for deatils about our beta testing program and how you can get early access to these features and the ability to help influence and guide the development!
Thank you for being part of our AnkiHub community and we look forward to bringing you more updates soon! Let’s continue learning together!
