You can’t fully ā€œundoā€ the Optimization wizard with a single button, but you have a few realistic options to get back to something close to your old behavior:

1. If you have a recent backup (best option)

If you made a backup before optimizing (or Anki made an automatic one):

  1. In Anki (desktop), go to File → Switch Profile… → Open Backup.
  2. Choose a backup from before you ran Optimization.
  3. Confirm restoring it.

This will restore your old scheduler settings and card states to that time.

Note: This will overwrite any reviews/new cards done since that backup.

2. Manually reset key scheduler settings

If you mostly dislike the new intervals (too long or too short), you can:

  1. In Anki desktop, go to Tools → Preferences → Scheduling and:
    • Uncheck things you turned on during optimization if you remember them (e.g. v3 scheduler options, learning steps changes, etc.).
  2. Go to Deck Options for your main AnKing deck(s) and adjust:
    • Steps (in minutes) under New Cards and Lapses back to what you remember.
    • Graduating / Easy intervals.
    • Maximum interval and Interval modifier if they were changed.

If you can post a screenshot of your current Deck Options → Reviews and New Cards tabs, we can suggest concrete values close to common AnKing defaults.

3. Use AnKing’s recommended settings as a baseline

If you don’t remember your exact old setup, using the current AnKing recommended settings is usually better than the Optimization defaults:

  • Open the AnKing settings guide (on AnKing’s site/YouTube; search ā€œAnKing settings 2024ā€) and match:
    • New card steps
    • Lapse steps
    • Graduating interval
    • Easy interval
    • Maximum interval
    • Interval modifier

This will at least give you consistent, proven settings, even if they’re not exactly what you had.

4. About AnkiHub specifically

AnkiHub controls card content (fields, tags, structure), but not your personal scheduler settings. So:

  • You don’t need to change anything on AnkiHub or leave the deck.
  • All fixes are done locally in Anki desktop via Preferences and Deck Options.

If you tell me:

  • Whether you have a backup from before Optimization, and
  • A screenshot of your current Deck Options (New Cards + Reviews tabs),

I can walk you step-by-step to get as close as possible to your previous behavior.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Depending on when you optimized, it may be possible to un-do the optimization though I can’t make any promises as to whether or not the Anki software will permit that outright

From your deck settings pane, you can try clicking here:

If that doesn’t work, it may be possible to look up the default FSRS parameters which may be posted, though they have also changed over the years

Give that a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away.

i used the button revert to previous parameter which i actually did not save but it still appears to be saved and the interval returned similar to the previous one i used to but i am still worried that i may have messed things up

It looks like you’re back to the default parameters:

I can’t see into your local collection to know much about your review, or optimization history, but that may be the extent of what the Anki software permits to you modify for the time being

If you prefer, you can always restore from a backup

i would be glad to restore my backup setting yes. how ??

From your top menu bar: Files - Restore from Backup

It may be a bit different, depending on what operating system you’re on, but it should be on the top menu bar up there

i just reverted to a pre-optimization backup but it still shows default

I’m sorry to say I’m not sure. That may be what your previous parameters were, or it may be that the Anki software does not save them with any fidelity

Unfortunately that’s a bit outside of my AnkiHub expertise, unfortunately. You might try reaching out on the official Anki forums, where some of the FSRS devs spend their time: https://forums.ankiweb.net/

That’s about all I can think of, at the moment

is there a certain way to force the recommended anking setting (which i applied when downloading the deck until today) into my deck ?

so i feel relieved

There aren’t recommended parameters for FSRS because they are, inherently, unique to your review history

When installing a new deck, the FSRS parameters used are the default parameters
