Question about searching

Hi Katie! So excited to see Anki grow and improve!

One thing I do a lot is search cards. A lot. I tend to find it be kinda wonky sometimes because it will pull words from what seems to be like fields other than the main front and back fields. What work are you guys doing for the text search function? Would just love to know. Thanks again! It could also be my Bettersearch, who knowsโ€ฆ

Also, lots of users use controllers for easy card mashing. Might be cool to make it a native feature? I use the add-on called Contanki which works well on my MacBook but definitely has issues depending on the system.

Excited to see how things go for you guys!

@jcbxl1222 You can already limit search to a certain field, see the screenshot below

Hi Joy! @Ahmed7 called out a great point about limiting search to a certain field, and thereโ€™s also AnkiHub SmartSearch -

โ€œSmart Search removes the hassle of trying to find cards with tags or by manually browsing. Input lecture notes, powerpoints, and more to get cards that match the content you are studying!โ€ Tutorial below:

11 STEPS

1. Click AnKing Step Deck.

2. Click Smart Search

3. Choose how you want to search.

4. For example, search by a file with lecture slides.

5. Upload a lecture.

6. AI search found notes that correspond with your upload.

Keep in mind that these are notes, rather than cards. (This will make sense in a moment).

7. Click "Add flashcards to reviews".

8. Click Close.

9. Click Sync.

10. Your cards are now ready to study!

(Note that we unsuspended notes but that this corresponds to cards).

11. That's it. You're done.

Here's an interactive tutorial
