I note in this earlier thread one of the AnkiHub admins offered to add an updated version of the notetype via the AnkiHub backend to push to users given the current inability to update the cardtype through AnkiHub. The formal feature request for that is here for reference.
I’m one of the Maintainer’s on the Malleus Clinical Medicine deck and was wondering if something similar could be performed for our deck if I can supply one of the AnkiHub admins with the CSS of our front/back and styling or equivalent (likely through GitHub which we are using to collaborate our notetype on) and this to be pushed to users? Unfortunately we didn’t add any IO notes in the original upload which means we are quite restricted to clozes and the alternative of simply creating and uploading a new deck for users to subscribe to is really just not realistic. We also have a lot of changes to the formatting we want to implement in a new cardtype. Would this be possible by any chance? Ideally we would work around this by forking the AnKing Notetypes Add-on through GitHub and modify to suit our needs, but so far we have not had the time to do this given other coding priorities and a separate add-on@sabicool has developed for the project.
As an aside, we don’t intend on removing any of the current fields in our default MalleusCM - Cloze notetype, but if we did, would this pose compatibility issues for users? If so, we would avoid it if it means we can otherwise get the rest of the notetype update out to users.
Appreciate your work on AnkiHub and looking forward to hearing back from you!
Update the stored notetype stylings (to allow for multiple international projects to use custom cards with custom stylings without you at AnkiHub necessarily needing to add compatibility with customisation add-ons)
Add new notetypes (e.g. IO, variations of the classic Front→Back)
Add fields to the stored notetype (probably the least concretely relevant, but to allow for discussions with established MedEd vendors — i.e. allow them the prominence of having their own field, as AnKing has with Pathoma, B&B, First Aid, Sketchy, and so on)
Thank you for reaching out. We hear your concerns and we want this feature just as much as you guys do!
It’s coming very very very soon, our dev team are hard at work on it currently. We will update you once it’s ready, we want to make sure it’s done right!
Really great to hear! Would you happen to have a loose ETA on this? If it’s in the very near future (ie. days to weeks) we won’t bother with our request to add our new notetype to the server backend. :))
