Hey everyone!
This update is very, very overdue and for that I do apologise. Quite a number of our core Maintainer team have been busy over the past few months with a mix of university, work commitments and annual leave. Despite this, many developments have occurred over the August-September period, most notably our Annual General Meeting, which I have tried to summarise below as best as I can.

Project Malleus Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025
On the 23rd of September at 6:30pm, we held our first AGM! For those interested, the AI minutes of this meeting can be found here and the accompanying slides can be viewed in PDF format here. We spoke about some of the major developments of the project over the past few years including our new notetype, not-for-profit registration, the new 2026 Executive and General Committee structure and our plans for 2026-27. Of particular note, we discussed our current major objective which is to finish the Malleus deck by the end of 2026, which is an achievable goal now that we have a more clearly defined committee structure and a clear way of tracking progress according to the PassMed ‘High Yield’ database, which we are slowly integrating into our Notion site so we can have everything within Notion rather than a sole Google doc. More about this development in our previous e-newsletter earlier this year here.
Since we opened registrations to become a ‘General Member’ of Project Malleus, we have had 69 people sign up, with a broad demographic make-up from pre-clinical students allow the way to practicing consultants! A reminder anyone can sign up for free on our website homepage here to keep up-to-date on the project and learn about new ways to get involved.
Project Malleus Elections 2025
The current make-up of the 2026 Project Malleus Committee was advertised recently on our social media accounts, and can be viewed on our dedicated elections webpage here. Congratulations to all elected officers! We will be in touch in the coming weeks regarding an induction meeting for all elected members. For any questions regarding the elections process, please email Alex (secretary@malleus.org.au) or Eric (president@malleus.org.au).
We plan to kick off with an entirely new meetings structure in January 2026 with;
- Executive Committee meetings (monthly)
- General Committee meetings (fortnightly)
- Maintainer Subcommittee meetings (fortnightly)
As can be seen above, we still have several unfilled/vacant positions that you may wish to nominate by emailing our Secretary Alex (secretary@malleus.org.au) if eligible. We are especially actively seeking someone to fill our final vacant Executive Committee position of ‘Sponsorship Officer’ - if this is a role you think you might be interested in, please consider putting your hand up! A reminder that you must check your eligibility by reading the Election Rules document before applying.

Partnerships & Collaboration

Therapeutic Guidelines and Clarity on AnkiHub’s Terms of Service
-
We are in ongoing formal discussions with Therapeutic Guidelines about licensing arrangements and reproducing their content in our deck while respecting copyright law.
-
It is likely we will be forced to reduce the screenshotted amount of content from Therapeutic Guidelines we include in our cards, however we are still in discussions on this
-
Therapeutic Guidelines have formally asked us to clarify the Terms of Service (ToS) of AnkiHub as a prerequisite for furthering discussions regarding any potential collaborations.
-
We have subsequently been in open communication with @TheAnKing and the AnKing team regarding amending the AnkiHub terms of service, specifically with respect to the following sections:
Ownership Transfer. All rights, title, and interest in and to such content are hereby transferred to and shall be owned exclusively by AnkiHub. This transfer of ownership includes all intellectual property rights associated with the content.
License Grant. You grant AnkiHub a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, and sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute, and display such content in connection with our website and the Service. This license also includes the right to use the content for our promotional, advertising, and marketing purposes.
-
We (the Project Malleus maintainers) believe the above ToS as written strongly stifles collaboration with external owners of copyrighted content and makes it difficult to maintain our open-source intentions and partner with other licensed providers of educational content
-
If someone voluntarily submits a flowchart or any sort of contribution to a deck, we do not feel it is appropriate or remotely ethical that AnkiHub takes intellectual ownership rights over such a contribution and would urge the owners of AnkiHub to update this as a matter of urgency
-
To Nick’s credit and the AnkiHub team, they have expressed a willingness to update their ToS to better represent the collaborative mission of AnkiHub and have advised they are awaiting their legal department to provide guidance on this
-
-
eMedici
- We are continuing to tag eMedici questions and align them with existing cards in the Malleus deck

Given the ongoing time constraints we have with putting these bimonthly newsletters together, we will be transitioning to Quarterly reports (4 newsletter updates a year) covering 3 months rather than 2 months. Our first Quarterly reports will be at the start of 2026.
See you then. Apologies once again for the late update!
Kind regards,
