1st Quarterly Update 2026 (January-March) - Project Malleus

Hey everyone!

As has become customary, we are late again with our first Quarterly Newsletter. But we have had a lot happen over the past few months! I do note that this update also includes some changes that seep into April, so apologies for that (we are still trying to fill our Pubs Officer role)!

Committee Updates Q1

:people_hugging: Executive Committee

  • Successful compilation of our first Sponsorship Prospectus and distribution of this to potential sponsors

  • Ongoing difficulties with securing a Publications and Promotions Officer (if you’re interested in this role which is a neat thing to have on your CV, please email Alex: secretary@malleus.org.au as we’d love to have you)

  • Planning is in the works for a 2026 Information Night to be beld in late July, 2026 to further promote the project

:people_hugging: General Committee

  • Currently we are progressing through our subjects database sequentially to finish topics (as of April 2026 we are currently on Cardiology)

  • Our IT officer have kindly automated Malleus user account creations

:people_hugging: Maintainer Committee

  • Fortnightly meetings have continued into 2026 with robust discussions on various aspects of the project, aiming to enhance user experiences, database structure and overall identify ways of completing the deck in the intended time-frame

  • Our Content Review Officer and BPT1 Michael (@pembrolizumab) has presented on a number of high-yield clinical topics

:hammer_and_wrench: Plugin Updates

Special thanks to @sabicool for ongoing enhancements to our plugins! :laptop:

  1. Malleus Anki Helper Add-on

    • Complete overhaul of the Malleus Helper Add-on with the ability to search across all databases within the Malleus add-on and filter subtags much more easily than before

    • New ‘update tags’ feature

    • New ‘paediatric card’ button allows for more targeted tagging of cards associated with paediatric-specific topics (rather than the old tagging system which led to gratuitous over-tagging)

  2. Malleus Chrome Extension

    • Minor bug fixes.
