Subdeck tags for new cards

Hello all,

My classmate and I are working on creating a shared deck for anatomy. When I first create the deck, I check the optino for subdeck tags and I can see them successfully added the original cards in the deck. However, when I create new cards, the tags are not added. Am I missing something? Thanks so much.

edit: just to reiterate, this happens when I create a new card. At first, I thought it was maybe due to the wrong note type being used but I confirmed that the same note type as the originally created cards, which have the subdeck tags. I am not sure why. Is there any option somewhere that allows “add tag on new card creation”?

Are you adding the subdeck tags to each of the new cards?

Not manually, I assumed that since I checked “use subdecks” that the tag would be added to each card. Is it expected that manually add a tag to each card? The tags for subdecks are somewhat convoluted so this seems like a super bad user experience if so. Thanks for the reply!

Yes, you have to manually add them.

You can go to browse → select all the cards you want to be added to a specific subdeck → right click → notes → add tags

That way it is way faster

Thanks so much. A nice UX feature for the future would be the option to auto add subdeck tags if the subdeck option is checked.

Currently the tags are added automatically only for cards in the initial deck upload.

New notes added later via suggestions won’t appear in the correct subdeck, unless if you manually add the subdeck tag.

It sounds like an easy fix to automatically add the subdeck tag for new note suggestions.
