Switching from v12 to AnkiHub

Hi, I currently have Anking v12 and do not use Ankihub. However, i want to switch to using AnkiHub because my current version does not show picutres. I want to know how to do this without losing any progress.

Welcome to AnkiHub, and thanks for posting!

It looks like you’ve pasted the category description text into your post, but haven’t yet asked your actual question about switching from AnKing v12 to AnkiHub.

To help you best, please reply with:

  1. Your current setup

    • Are you currently using the AnKing Overhaul v12 shared deck from AnkiWeb?
    • Have you already installed the AnkiHub add-on and created an AnkiHub account?
    • Are you using Anki on desktop only, or also on AnkiMobile/AnkiDroid?
  2. What you want to do

    • Do you want to:
      • Fully switch to the AnkiHub version of the AnKing deck (and stop using the old standalone v12), or
      • Just add AnkiHub to keep your existing deck updated?
  3. Any concerns or issues so far

    • Errors you’re seeing (screenshots help a lot)
    • What you’ve tried already (e.g., “I subscribed to the AnkiHub deck but now I see duplicates”, etc.)

Once you share that, I can give you step‑by‑step instructions tailored to your situation (including how to avoid duplicates, how to keep your current scheduling/progress, and what to do with your old v12 deck).

Hello!

v12 is actually the version of the deck on AnkiHub. You might be referring to v11. You won’t lose your review progress on anything (except maybe on some older, outdated cards that no longer exist in the current version of the deck). You just need to make sure to:

After that, you can follow these tutorials to complete your migration from v11 to v12:

  1. How to move cards from your old V11 deck to a new deck
  2. How to Delete old v11 Cards
  3. How to remove V11 tags when upgrading from V12

If you already have v12 installed locally somehow, you just need to make sure your fields and tags are protected; you won’t need to follow the v11 to v12 migration tutorials.

Please let me know if you need help with anything else!

Sorry, I am still confused. You are correct, I have version 11 not version 12. I just bought AnkiHub and have not tried to download anything yet. Why would I need to follow those tutorials to move my old V11 cards to a new deck? If I download the new V12 deck from AnkiHub, wouldn’t that have all the cards I need and not affect my progress? Or do I need to do something specific to protect my progress?

We recommend following this tutorial so you have every card in a single deck, as the new v12 version doesn’t use subdecks. We organize everything with tags, which is much more efficient since there are so many cards.

You can simply download the deck and continue using the organization you had with v11, but this may cause problems because you might have trouble finding specific cards in their respective decks. If you are okay with that, you can keep your current organization, and if you run into any issues in the future, you can always just follow these tutorials.

When you download v12, many of your v11 cards will be updated, many new cards will be added, and some cards that existed in v11 but no longer exist in v12 will remain in your collection (since AnkiHub does not delete any of your cards). These older cards will not be part of the v12 AnkiHub deck, meaning they will be outdated. This is one of the main reasons we recommend doing a complete migration to v12, so you only have cards that are in sync with AnkiHub and are actively receiving updates.

Either way, your review progress will be protected.

Ok, I moved everything to one deck and then downloaded ankihub and synced it. My progress looks to be still there and everything seems to be updated. However, usually I go to the B&B sections to unsuspend cards but now there are a ton of cards missing under the tags. I have included a section under EKG where there used to be a lot of cards, but now there are only 5 cards. Did I do something wrong? I only did the “How to move cards from your old V11 deck to a new deck tutorial”, not the “how to delete old v11 cards” or “how to remove v11 tags”.

Please try this: How to Reset Local Changes

You should have all the cards, but please note that the images may take some time to download initially. Depending on your internet connection, this can take an hour or more.

To check your progress, you can open the AnkiHub add-on menu in Anki and check the media sync status:

  • If it shows “Downloading”: your media is still being downloaded; just wait until it says “Idle.”
  • If it shows “Idle”: the media sync should be complete
