I’ve just purchased the core membership billed monthly within the last hour. When I tried syncing the anking step deck after installing ankihub it states that “the action you are trying to perform requires an active membership”. I’ve tried closing Anki and relogging in.

Yes and i got an email says your core plan is activated
Use of the Core plan with a scholarship is also contingent on the scholarship itself being approved, which typically takes a couple to a few days.
Once your scholarship has been processed you will receive a separate notification upon approval.

I am also having this issue! Originally it was working fine, but I accidentally let my subscription lapse and now that I have resubscribed it still says I have no active plan.
