Tag for SUNY Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine

Hello! I’m an M1 at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSMBS) at the University at Buffalo and am hoping to contribute to the existing (empty, underutilized) shared tag here. Can I be added as a maintainer?

Thanks for offering to contribute—that’s exactly what we love to see with school-specific tags.

I don’t have the ability to directly change maintainer permissions from here, but here’s what you should do next to get added as a maintainer for the JSMBS / UB shared tag:

  1. Confirm the tag/deck extension link
The link you shared (deck extension ID 26) looks like the right place, but just to be clear for the AnkiHub team, include the full URL in your request:

  2. Contact AnkiHub support / staff directly
Since maintainer status is controlled on the AnkiHub side, the fastest route is:

    • Either:
      • Open a ticket via AnkiHub support (if you’re on a paid plan)
      • Or send an email to AnkiHub support (listed on the main site / app)
    • In your message, include:
      • Your AnkiHub username and email
      • The deck extension URL
      • That you’re an M1 at JSMBS (University at Buffalo) and want to be added as a maintainer for that school tag.
  3. Mention your forum post
Link this forum topic and note that the tag is currently ā€œempty/underutilizedā€ and you’d like to:

    • Curate existing relevant cards
    • Add / organize content specific to your school’s curriculum
  4. In the meantime: use personal tags
While maintainer access is being sorted out, you can:

    • Add your own local tag (e.g. School::JSMBS::Block1) to cards in your synced Anki deck.
    • Once you’re a maintainer, you can start aligning those with the shared tag and pushing structured updates.

If you’d like, I can suggest a tagging structure for JSMBS (e.g., by block/system/exam) that tends to work well with AnkiHub updates.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

For better or worse, you would want to contact the owner of those optional tags as only the owner of a given tag can add, remove, or alter the maintainer list. Thus, your best bet would be to reach out to them and see if they would like to add, or amend, their maintainer list

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.

Thanks for the reply! Would you be able to tell me what year the tag was created so that I can potentially sleuth out the creator?

Unfortunately I don’t know that I have an easy way to track it, as it wasn’t listed by the author and I don’t know that we typically follow creation dates, I’m sorry to say

I do show that it has a few subscribers, but it appears to be mostly or entirely empty, and that’s about all I have to go on other than it being listed as ā€œJacobs School of Medicine optional tags for AnKingā€

Other than that, the original owner appears to have included no other pertinent info, I’m sorry to report

At some point we’ll probably retire old optional tags if there is no activity, and no subscribers, past a certain timeframe though as yet we haven’t had to face that problem still

Tbh I found myself in a similar position when I started at my school, and found but never heard back from the original optional tag owner and so I just opted to make my own
