That message usually means AnkiHub’s backend is temporarily unreachable, even if there’s no current announcement yet (it can be an unexpected outage, DNS issue, or a very short maintenance window).

Please try these quick checks:

  1. Confirm AnkiHub status

    • Open a browser and go to:
    • If either of these is slow or not loading, it’s almost certainly a temporary AnkiHub-side issue. In that case, waiting a bit and trying again is usually all that’s needed.
  2. Basic troubleshooting

    • Fully restart Anki and your computer.
    • Make sure Anki and the AnkiHub add-on are up to date:
      • Anki: Help → About to check version.
      • AnkiHub add-on: Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → Check for updates (or reinstall from AnkiWeb).
    • Try a different network (phone hotspot vs. home Wi‑Fi) or temporarily turn off VPN/firewall to see if they’re blocking ankihub.net.
  3. If the issue persists

    • Let us know:
      • Your Anki version (e.g. 2.1.65),
      • AnkiHub add-on version (from the Add-ons window),
      • Your operating system,
      • Whether you can open https://app.ankihub.net in a browser.
    • Also mention roughly when it started and whether you had ever synced successfully on this device before.

From your screenshot and description, this most likely is/was a transient outage. If you reply with the info above, we can better tell whether it’s an account/device issue or something on AnkiHub’s side.

Hello,

Please ensure you are on the latest version of Anki. You can download it here: https://apps.ankiweb.net/. After downloading, simply run the downloaded file to update your application.

Next, please update the AnkiHub add-on:

  1. On your Anki main screen, go to Tools > Add-ons > Check for Updates.
  2. After the update is complete, please restart Anki.

Once that is done, go to Help > About and send us a screenshot of your Anki version so we can take a look.
