I just synced the deck and it says it has around 35000 cards. i thought it was only supposed to have 28000?

I’m not sure which deck you’re referring to, but my initial guess would be that there is some confusion between number of cards, and number of notes.
The Anking MCAT deck, for example, has 3k notes but roughly 6.3k cards. This owes to how Anki views, and organizes, notes versus cards. I can explain in greater depth, if it would be helpful.
