Syncing to AnkiWeb
To sync your Anki collection to AnkiWeb, follow these steps:
-
First, make sure you have an AnkiWeb account. If you don’t have one yet, create a free account at ankiweb.net.
-
In the Anki desktop application, click the sync button (located at the top right of the main screen) or press ‘y’ on your keyboard.
-
Enter your AnkiWeb ID (email) and password when prompted.
-
For your first sync, Anki will ask whether you want to “Upload to AnkiWeb” or “Download from AnkiWeb”:
- If you have cards on your computer and your AnkiWeb account is empty, choose Upload to AnkiWeb
- If you have cards on AnkiWeb from another device, but none on your current device, choose Download from AnkiWeb
Note: If you’ve just installed an AnkiHub deck and are syncing for the first time, select Upload to AnkiWeb as mentioned in this FAQ topic.
After the initial sync, future syncs will automatically merge changes between your devices. Remember that AnkiWeb and AnkiHub are two different services - AnkiWeb handles syncing your collection across devices, while AnkiHub is for collaborative deck creation and maintenance.
