Use the settings from the YouTube video, not the default ones that come with the deck.

Here’s why and how to think about it:

  1. The deck itself (AnKing MCAT) mainly provides the cards and tags. It doesn’t depend on special custom scheduling.
  2. The video you linked shows AnKing’s current, generally recommended settings for:
    • New cards per day / review limits
    • Learning / lapse steps
    • Ease factors & intervals
These are designed to work well for most students and across multiple decks.
  3. The built‑in settings that come with a deck are often:
    • Older
    • Not tailored to your current timeline or workload
    • Not as well tested as the “universal” recommendation AnKing keeps updated in videos/posts

So:

  • Create a new preset (or edit your existing one) following the values from that video.
  • Apply that same preset to the AnKing MCAT deck (and its subdecks) via Deck > Options > [your preset].
  • Then, if needed, adjust only a couple of things to fit your schedule:
    • Daily new card limit
    • Maximum reviews per day

If you’d like, you can post a screenshot of your current Options group (all sections) and I can point out exactly what I’d change to match the video while still being reasonable for MCAT prep.

are you sure? posts in 2024 indicated otherwise

Hello,

You are free to try both and see what you enjoy more.

One thing to mention is that your current settings don’t include the FSRS algorithm, which is highly recommended nowadays. I suggest you follow the video and start using FSRS because it is much more efficient. From there, you can experiment with variations of the video’s settings to your liking.
