I want to add an another field to Anking notes for any abbreviations used in the note. When I go online to protect the new field I added, it is not showing up. How do I protect this new field I created?

I’m not the greatest expert on note types, but I believe that while you can edit your local note fields you don’t have the ability to change existing note types on Ankihub. Thus, even if you were to add a new field to your local notes that would have no impact on what is stored, or displayed, on Ankihub.
The note types that are stored on Ankihub are not able to be edited. Though again you can edit your local collection.
It might be worth noting that, for the Anking note type, the Lecture Notes and/or Missed Questions fields are intended for just such personal use. You can edit these areas and they are never altered or changed by Ankihub so any edits you make to those fields are inherently safe.

Also note that modifying your local AnkiHub notetypes to add new fields or remove existing ones is not supported and will most likely cause errors when you suggest new notes.
