AnkiHub sync cancelled on Mac after reinstall

Anki version: 26.05 (Mac, Apple Silicon)

AnkiHub add-on version: 2026-07-01.1

Issue: Sync starts, then immediately says “AnkiHub sync cancelled.”

Things I’ve already tried:

  • Removed duplicate 1322529746_old folder.

  • Reinstalled the AnkiHub add-on.

  • Signed out and back in.

  • Only AnkiHub add-on is installed.

  • Uploaded logs.

Thanks for all the details and for uploading the log file — that really helps.

From what you described (sync starts and instantly shows “AnkiHub sync cancelled” on a fresh install, with only AnkiHub installed), this is usually caused by either:

  1. A problem with the profile / local AnkiHub config, or
  2. A backend/auth issue with this specific account that the add-on is detecting and aborting on.

Because I don’t see an existing forum topic or docs entry that exactly matches your situation, I can’t be 100% sure what’s wrong from here, but you’ve already tried most of the standard steps. Let’s go a bit deeper:

1. Try a completely fresh test profile

This helps separate “profile-specific” issues from “system/account” issues.

  1. In Anki (top menu) go to File → Switch Profile…
  2. Click Add → name it something like AnkiHubTest.
  3. In the new profile, install the AnkiHub add-on again (if not already there globally).
  4. Log into AnkiHub in that test profile and try to sync just one small shared deck.

Results:

  • If sync works in the test profile:
The issue is likely with your original profile’s AnkiHub data or collection. In that case:

    • Go back to the original profile.
    • In the menu bar, go to AnkiHub → Advanced → Reset local AnkiHub data (wording may vary slightly depending on version).
    • Restart Anki and try syncing again.
  • If sync still shows “sync cancelled” in the test profile:
Then the problem is likely not your collection, but either:

    • The add-on build on macOS 26.05 Apple Silicon, or
    • Something specific about your AnkiHub account / auth token.

2. Confirm Anki version and AnkiWeb sync

Just to rule out a general sync problem:

  1. In your main profile, go to Tools → Preferences → Network and confirm you can sync with AnkiWeb (top-right sync button) without errors.
  2. If AnkiWeb sync works but only AnkiHub sync cancels instantly, that again points to an AnkiHub-specific issue.

3. What I can’t see (but support can)

I can’t directly view the internals of the uploaded log ankihub_addon_logs_elisheva_1785252506.log from here, so I can’t read the exact error code it’s cancelling on. The dev/support team can inspect that log on their side.

Since you’ve:

  • Removed the 1322529746_old folder
  • Reinstalled the add-on
  • Logged out and back in
  • Tested with only AnkiHub enabled
  • And the error is immediate and reproducible

you’ve already done all the right troubleshooting steps. At this point it’s very likely something the AnkiHub devs will need to look at (either in your log or on the server side).

4. Next best step

Please do this next:

  1. In your topic, confirm whether:
    • A fresh test profile (steps in section 1) still shows “AnkiHub sync cancelled”, and
    • Regular AnkiWeb sync is working.
  2. Mention that you are on:
    • macOS (Apple Silicon)
    • Anki 26.05
    • AnkiHub add-on 2026-07-01.1
    • And that you already uploaded ankihub_addon_logs_elisheva_1785252506.log.

That will give the AnkiHub team all the context they need to check the log on their side and see why the sync is being cancelled (auth issue, deck permissions, server-side error, etc.).

If you share the results of the test-profile check here, I can help you interpret them and suggest anything else to try while we wait for a dev to look at the log.

Hello,

Please try the following steps to resolve this issue:

  1. At the bottom of your Anki screen, click “Create Deck” and create a new deck with any name.
  2. In that new deck, add a single card (write anything in it).
  3. Sync again.

Let me know if you need help with anything else!
