Thanks for the screenshot and details, that helps.
“AnkiHub sync cancelled” usually means something in the setup is blocking the add‑on before it can actually pull the deck. Let’s go step‑by‑step and rule out the common causes.
1. Confirm basic requirements
Please double‑check:
-
Anki version
- AnkiHub requires a relatively recent Anki (2.1.56+; ideally 2.1.60+).
- In Anki, go to Help → About and confirm the version.
- If it’s old, update from apps.ankiweb.net, then restart Anki.
-
AnkiHub add‑on installed and enabled
- In Anki: Tools → Add-ons.
- Make sure AnkiHub is listed and not disabled.
- If you see multiple AnkiHub‑related add‑ons, disable the extras and keep only the official one active.
- Click Check for Updates there as well.
2. Make sure you’re logged into AnkiHub in Anki
Inside Anki:
- Go to Tools → AnkiHub → Settings (or Configure in the Add-ons window, depending on your version).
- Make sure:
- You’re logged into the same AnkiHub account that you used on the AnkiHub website to subscribe/join the deck.
- If in doubt, click Log out, then Log in again and carefully re‑enter your credentials.
If you recently created a new Anki account: that is separate from AnkiHub. What matters for AnkiHub sync is that Anki is logged into your AnkiHub account in the add‑on settings.
3. Check that the deck is actually joined on AnkiHub
On your browser:
- Go to your deck on AnkiHub (e.g., the deck page you subscribed to).
- Confirm that you see something like “You are a member” / “Joined” and not a “Join” button.
- If you’re not joined, click Join / Subscribe.
- Back in Anki, run Tools → AnkiHub → Sync now again.
4. Look at the exact error in the AnkiHub log
The popup “AnkiHub sync cancelled” is generic; the more useful info is in the log:
- In Anki go to Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → View Files / View Log
or Tools → AnkiHub → Show logs (depends on version). - Scroll to the bottom and see if there’s a more specific error message:
- e.g., “authentication failed”, “permission denied”, “network error”, or “no access to deck”.
If you can, copy and paste the last 20–30 lines of that log here (remove any email addresses) or take a clear screenshot focused on the error text. That will help pinpoint the cause.
5. Quick troubleshooting actions
Try these in order:
-
Restart Anki and your laptop, then:
- Open Anki
- Wait ~30 seconds
- Run Tools → AnkiHub → Sync now once (don’t click multiple times).
-
Disable conflicting add‑ons:
- Tools → Add‑ons → click Toggle Enabled on everything except AnkiHub.
- Restart Anki.
- Try AnkiHub sync again.
- If this fixes it, we can later narrow down which add‑on was conflicting.
-
Test on a clean profile:
- File → Switch Profile → Add → create a test profile.
- In that test profile, install only the AnkiHub add‑on.
- Log in to AnkiHub in the add‑on and try to sync the same deck.
- Let me know if it works there or if you still get “sync cancelled”.
What I need from you next
Please reply with:
- Your Anki version (Help → About).
- A screenshot or copy/paste of the AnkiHub error/log text near the bottom.
- Whether:
- The deck shows as joined on AnkiHub, and
- Sync works in a new test profile with only AnkiHub installed.
With those details, I can give you more targeted steps instead of having you reinstall everything again.

Hello,
I would be happy to help. ![]()
If you can, within Anki go to your top menu bar. From there, click Anki - About Anki and check your version number.
You’ll want to make sure that you’re on 25.02 (or higher). If it’s any other version, you’ll want to upgrade since older versions often run into little issues with add-ons.
You can always download the latest version of Anki at the official Anki website: https://apps.ankiweb.net/
Give that a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away. ![]()
i have the 25.09 version and still doesnt work, i tried uninstalling anki and installing it again, nothing has worked
Gotcha, thanks for that additional context. ![]()
Now that we know you’re on an appropriate version of Anki, give the following a shot:
Let me know if that does the trick for you. ![]()
testing on a clean profile was the solution, thanks
Nice, glad the clean profile worked!
That means something in your original profile (usually another add-on or a damaged config) was blocking AnkiHub. To get your main profile working again, you can:
-
Find the conflicting add-on
- In your original profile, go to Tools → Add-ons.
- Disable all add-ons except AnkiHub.
- Restart Anki and try Tools → AnkiHub → Sync now.
- If it works, re‑enable your other add-ons one by one (or in small groups), restarting Anki and testing AnkiHub sync each time.
- When the error returns, the last add-on you enabled is the culprit.
-
If it still fails even with only AnkiHub enabled
- Consider continuing in the new clean profile:
- Export any personal decks from the old profile (File → Export → Selected deck(s), include scheduling/media).
- Import them into the clean profile.
- Then keep only the add-ons you really need (starting with AnkiHub).
- Consider continuing in the new clean profile:
If you’d like, you can share a list of the add-ons in your original profile (just their names), and I can point out any known conflicts with AnkiHub.
