Anking step deck not syncing with ankiweb

The category for general support questions related to using AnkiHub.Hi, I’m using Anki 26.05 on macOS. I successfully installed the AnkiHub add-on, logged into AnkiHub, and subscribed to the AnKing Step Deck. The deck appears under Deck Management, but when I click “Sync to install”, it immediately says “AnkiHub sync cancelled” without downloading anything. I have already uploaded my logs. My debug file is:

Thanks for all the detailed info and for uploading your debug file already — that’s very helpful.

When “Sync to install” → “AnkiHub sync cancelled” happens immediately and nothing is downloaded, it’s almost always one of these:

  1. Anki version / add-on version issue

    • You mentioned Anki 26.05 on macOS. Please double‑check:
      • In Anki, go to Help → About and confirm the exact version number (e.g., 24.06, 25.12, etc.).
        • If you’re on a very new experimental/beta build, AnkiHub may not fully support it yet.
      • Go to Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → View Files → manifest.json (or hover tooltip) and confirm you’re on the latest AnkiHub add-on from our official instructions:
        https://community.ankihub.net/docs
  2. Logged in, but not actually connected to AnkiHub

    • In Anki, open AnkiHub → Settings:
      • Make sure it shows you as logged in with your AnkiHub account (same account you used to subscribe to the AnKing Step Deck).
      • If it looks correct, click Log out, then Log in again.
      • After re‑logging in, close and reopen Anki, then try AnkiHub → Deck Management → Sync to install again.
  3. Subscription vs. Deck selection mismatch

    • On the AnkiHub website, open: My Decks → AnKing Step Deck and confirm that:
      • Your subscription is Active.
    • In Anki, under AnkiHub → Deck Management:
      • Confirm you see AnKing Step Deck listed there with a checkbox.
      • Click on that deck, then try Sync to install.
  4. Deck name or existing deck conflict

    • If you already have a local deck with a similar name, sometimes the initial install can fail quietly.
    • In Anki:
      • Temporarily rename or export + delete any existing “AnKing Step Deck” or similar decks.
      • Empty the Trash if needed.
      • Then try Sync to install again from Deck Management.
  5. Network / security software blocking

    • Occasionally, firewall/VPN/antivirus or corporate networks block AnkiHub.
    • Try:
      • Turning off VPN or switching networks (e.g., hotspot).
      • If you’re on university / hospital Wi‑Fi, try a personal network instead.
      • Then restart Anki and try again.

Next steps specific to your case

Since you’ve already uploaded ankihub_addon_debug_info_aamer020_1785018163.zip, the fastest path now is:

  1. In this topic, please reply with:
    • The exact Anki version from Help → About.
    • Your AnkiHub add-on version (from Tools → Add‑ons → AnkiHub).
    • Whether you tried logging out and back into AnkiHub in Anki.
  2. If possible, add:
    • A screenshot of:
      • AnkiHub → Deck Management showing the AnKing Step Deck.
      • The message “AnkiHub sync cancelled” in the AnkiHub log or pop‑up.

With that info, we (or a team member) can cross‑check your debug file and see if this is a known issue with your specific Anki version or a connection problem, and give you a more targeted fix.

In the meantime, please avoid reinstalling Anki or the deck manually from another source; that can complicate syncing with AnkiHub later.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.
