Thanks for all the details and for already uploading the debug logsāthatās very helpful.
When the red AnkiHub sync shows collection complete and then AnkiHub cancelled without ever asking āUpload / Download,ā it usually means AnkiHub isnāt detecting a valid shared deck subscription or something is blocking the AnkiHub sync step.
Here are the main things to check, in order:
1. Confirm youāre subscribed to the correct AnkiHub decks
Make sure your AnkiHub account is actually subscribed to the Step decks, not just the main AnKing deck.
- Go to: https://ankihub.net
- Log in with the same email account you use in the AnkiHub add-on.
- Open your Subscriptions page and confirm you see:
- āAnKing Step 1 (Learning Deck)ā
- āAnKing Step 2 (Review Deck)ā
- If you donāt see them, subscribe from their AnkiHub deck pages, then try syncing again in Anki via the red AnkiHub button.
If youāre only subscribed to the main AnKing Overhaul deck, AnkiHub wonāt prompt you to download the step decks.
2. Confirm youāre logged in correctly in the AnkiHub add-on
In Anki:
Tools ā Add-ons ā AnkiHub ā Config (or open the AnkiHub menu in the top bar if present).
- Log out, then log back in.
- Make sure the email matches what you see on https://ankihub.net.
After reālogging in, press the red AnkiHub Sync again.
3. Temporarily disable other add-ons
Sometimes another add-on can interfere with AnkiHub sync.
Tools ā Add-ons
- Click Toggle Enabled to disable everything except AnkiHub.
- Restart Anki and try the red AnkiHub sync again.
If it works with other add-ons disabled, weāve found a conflict; we can then narrow it down.
4. Check for any popups behind Anki or network issues
- Make sure no firewall/VPN or strict antivirus is blocking Anki/AnkiHub.
- Ensure Anki is fully online:
- Blue Anki sync (top-right) should work without errors.
- After running the red AnkiHub sync, wait 10ā20 seconds to see if any windows are appearing behind the main Anki window (especially on multiāmonitor setups).
5. Use your uploaded debug log in the topic
You mentioned uploading ankihub_addon_debug_info_carmine_1783554962.zipāthe AnkiHub team will likely need that to check the exact error the server returned.
While waiting:
- Please also add in your topic whether:
- You can see the Step 1 and Step 2 decks in your AnkiHub Subscriptions list.
- Youāve ever successfully synced any AnkiHub deck on this machine before.
If you can, reply in your topic with:
- Screenshot of your AnkiHub Subscriptions page showing the Step decks.
- Screenshot of the AnkiHub add-on loggedāin account (email blurred is fine).
- Whether the issue persists with all other add-ons disabled.
Once you share that, support can match it with your uploaded log and give more specific guidance.
Hello,
Do you see a āSync canceledā message in the bottom left?
Also, what happens when you click sync with AnkiHub through the add-on?
Please try these solutions:
- At the bottom of Anki, click āCreate Deckā, create one, and name it anything.
- In that deck, add a card (any card, just type something and save it).
- Sync.
