I previously had the anking deck but deleted it because I wanted to start my progress over. Now all the cards aren’t showing up and some of the milesdown subsections like essential equations aren’t even there.
Hello,
You can try resetting your local changes by following this tutorial: How to Reset Local Changes
If this doesn’t solve the problem, let me know, and we can explore other solutions!
hello, i did that already multiple times nothing changed
Can you please do the following and let me know what you see in your Anki?
-
Click on AnkiHub in the Anki toolbar and select Deck Management.
-
Select the deck where you’re experiencing the issue and check where the new cards are being saved.
The deck where the cards are being saved must be the one where you want them to appear. This way, when you search for that deck in the browser, the cards will be there.
ohhh ok it says the deck is being saved to the p/s deck instead. To change it to the anking deck do i have to start over?
Or is the cards being in the mcat blue heart ps deck a new update because now im seeing the different sections
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘start over’, but whichever deck you select there as the ‘destination’ is where AnkiHub will recognize, and ‘park’ the deck. That’s where the cards will be parked going forward, basically.
I’m not sure if I follow, can you show me?
You can simply change the destination deck to the one you want. After that, you can select the cards in the browser, right-click, and choose the ‘Change Deck’ option. Then, select the deck where you want your cards to go.
This is how it looks. I have 6394 cards total so if I have all the cards I don’t mind it being sorted like this i guess.
This layout is because you had, or have, other MCAT decks in your collection that share a lineage (Pankow and Miledown, from the look of it?). So when the cards were imported, they followed your existing organizational hierarchy.
If you don’t have any review history you want to keep you can just delete everything and start from scratch with the AnkiHub deck and it will install properly.
If you do have review history you want to keep, though, it may come down to organizing subdecks from what you have there, as a full reset will also discard any review history that you have.
Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
Ok is there a certain way I should delete and reinstall because I’ve tried deleting it manually from the decks screen then resyncing it and i’ve also used the reset profile command but every time I sync again it doesn’t sort it how it was originally only under the p/s deck. Should I change the destination first then delete everything then sync and see if that works?
I’m not sure what organization you had originally. If there’s a specific organization that you want, and it’s different than the AnKing MCAT default, your best bet would be to manually organize it in the way that you’d like for it to be.
If you just want the AnKing MCAT default, and you don’t mind losing review history and resetting clean, you’ll want to first delete basically all of your MCAT decks. Anything that could have a card with a shared lineage should be deleted
As an easy example: if you delete everything, and start from scratch, then install the AnKing deck, it should show up as per the default subdeck organization.
- Unsubscribe from the MCAT deck.
- Delete everything.
- Resubscribe to the MCAT deck.
- Hit sync.
The default organization looks like this:
It tells me to check database and when I do and sync again it doesn’t go to the default organization it shows up under the p/s deck.
And what happened after checking database?
Hmm. I’m not sure I see a P/S deck in the image you shared. Can you elaborate, or help me understand?
After I check database it shows this
and then I click download from ankiweb and it puts my cards under the p/s deck
If you click ‘download’ it will revert your collection to whatever AnkiWeb has on file. This basic dynamic is given a little bit of an explanation in the pop-up itself:
In particular, it notes “you will lose any changes you made on this device.”
From my understanding of what you’re hoping to achieve, I don’t think that’s the option you want in this case (also judging based on the result).
Have you tried selecting the other option?
No i haven’t because I didn’t make any changes in the first place. Let me try and see what happens
Usually you will get this prompt only when you have made some kind of change (typically a large one) to your collection. In this case, deleting decks and/or a large number of cards is the change that you made that is causing this prompt to appear, as it’s essentially asking you which collection you want to keep (local, or AnkiWeb)
Now that we know the other decks, that might otherwise have been interfering, are no longer present can you try resetting local changes now?
Let me know how/if that works and we’ll go from there.
