AnKing Overhaul Deck (Older Version with Subfolders) vs New Version with Tags

Dear Anki Community,

I downloaded and installed the AnKing Overhaul for Step 1 & 2** deck by AnKingMed a couple of years ago, and I’ve been syncing it to AnkiWeb regularly ever since.

However, the current version has been renamed, and now uses tags instead of subfolders. I’m wondering:

-Am I missing any new cards, media, or updates by continuing to use and sync my older version?
-Which version do you recommend using — the old version (AnKing Overhaul for Step 1 & 2) or the new one (AnKing Step Deck)— and why?

Thanks so much.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

As long as you’re subscribed to the current version on AnkiHub, you aren’t missing out on anything.

I show that you are currently subscribed to the AnKing Step deck, so you’re not really syncing your old deck so much as you’re actively subscribed to the current version of the deck.

For perhaps all the obvious reasons, using the current one is recommended as it’s far more updated than the pre-AnkiHub versions that float around out there. But, since you’ve been subscribed to the AnkiHub version you already have the new one.

If you mean, though, whether it’s recommended to use the pre-AnkiHub version or the AnkiHub version it’s for sure recommended to use the AnkiHub version (which you have). At this point, you’re looking at hundreds of thousands of updates, easily

If you’d like to get a slightly more detailed sense of the updates that have taken place, and continue to take place, with the AnKing Step deck there are also monthly update posts detailing all the goings-on in the deck. I’ll link the most recent one here: 👑 AnKing Step Deck Update #16

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
