Anking Premium Trial, AI search resulted in 1000s of new cards

Hi! I was trying out the premium AI search tool a few days back and I clicked on cards that were related to the Pathoma deck, but then I got a message saying it was too many cards and it sent me back to the home Anki screen. However, I now have close to 7000 new cards that I’m not sure where they came from. Up until then, I had completed all my new cards for the day and I was at 0. Not sure from what Anki deck to suspend the cards

I’ll help you troubleshoot this issue with the AnkiHub premium AI search feature that resulted in thousands of new cards. Let me search for some relevant information that might help us understand what happened.

AnkiHub Premium Smart Search Issue with Too Many Cards

Hi there! It sounds like you experienced an issue with the AnkiHub Premium AI Smart Search feature, which appears to have added thousands of new cards to your Anki collection.

What likely happened

When using Smart Search, you were searching for Pathoma-related content, but the AI found a very large number of cards - approximately 7,000 - that matched your search criteria. Although the system showed an error message about too many cards, it seems the cards were still added to your collection.

How to resolve this issue

Since these cards were likely added from the AnKing deck (or related Pathoma content), you’ll need to:

  1. Open your Anki browser (press B in the main Anki screen)
  2. Search for recently added cards - Try using the search term added:1 (cards added in the last day) or adjust the number for more days
  3. Look for Pathoma-related tags - Search for “Pathoma” in the tags section
  4. Select all the unwanted cards and suspend them (right-click and select “Suspend”) or delete them if you’re certain they’re not needed

If you can’t easily identify which cards were added by the Smart Search feature, you might want to check:

  • Cards with Pathoma tags
  • Recently added cards in your collection
  • Cards that appear in your “New” queue that weren’t there before

For future reference

The Smart Search feature is designed to help you find relevant cards based on your study materials, but there are usage limits in place. When searching with large documents or broad criteria, you might want to narrow your search to avoid getting too many results.

Hello,

As the bot mentioned, the cards were unsuspended despite the message saying there were too many.

Smart Search only unsuspends cards from your AnKing Step Deck. The cards were already in your Anki collection; they were just suspended. Now they appear as new cards because they have been unsuspended.

The AnKing Step Deck is a single deck, without subdecks, unless you’ve made changes. You can search the tags on the left side of the Browser screen to select and suspend the cards you want.

Just one question to make sure I understand correctly: Did you already have some unsuspended new cards with a daily limit, which you completed for today (bringing the count to zero), but still had other new cards scheduled for the following days?

  • If not, you can paste deck:"AnKing Step Deck" is:new into the search bar. Then, suspend all the cards that appear in the search results (select one card, press Ctrl+A or Cmd+A on Mac, right-click, and select “Suspend”). This will reset your new card count to zero, allowing you to unsuspend only the cards you want to learn.

  • If so, follow the same procedure as above. Unfortunately, you will then have to manually search (or use Smart Search) for the cards that were previously new and unsuspend them again. Currently, there is no way to identify the most recently unsuspended batch of cards or revert this action in that situation.

Please let me know if any of this is confusing or if you need help with any of these steps! :mending_heart:

I was able to search for Pathoma from the side bar and suspended the cards! My new cards now accurately reflects what I should be at. Thanks for your help!!
