Hi, Iâm a new AnkiHub subscriber.
-
Anki version: 26.08 (Windows)
-
AnkiHub add-on: 2026-08-04.1 (no updates pending)
-
My AnKing Step Deck subscription is active.
-
In Deck Management the deck shows âThis deck is not installed yetâ.
-
Clicking âSync to installâ does absolutely nothing.
-
I already reinstalled the add-on, confirmed my subscription, and tested on a different network (mobile hotspot).
-
AnkiWeb sync now works on the hotspot, but the deck still wonât install.

Thanks for all the detailsâthat helps narrow things down a lot.
A few things to try in order, based on similar âSync to install does nothingâ issues:
1. Confirm youâre logged into the correct AnkiHub account in Anki
- In Anki, go to Tools â Add-ons â AnkiHub â Config (or AnkiHub â Settings if you see that menu).
- Check the email/username shown there.
- Make sure it matches the account that has the AnKing Step Deck subscription on the AnkiHub website.
- If unsure, click Log out, then log in again with the correct account.
Sometimes being logged into a different AnkiHub account from the one with the subscription makes the deck show but not actually sync.
2. Force a restart and re-open Deck Management
- Fully close Anki (File â Exit), not just the window.
- Re-open Anki.
- Go to AnkiHub â Deck Management and try Sync to install again.
If nothing happens, try clicking it a few times and watch the bottom bar of Anki for any brief error message.
3. Check for add-on conflicts
Temporarily disable other add-ons to see if something is blocking AnkiHub:
- In Anki, go to Tools â Add-ons.
- Click Toggle Enabled on all add-ons except AnkiHub.
- Restart Anki when prompted.
- Try AnkiHub â Deck Management â Sync to install again.
If it works with other add-ons disabled, weâve found a conflict. You can then re-enable them one by one later to identify which one causes the issue.
4. Try the âGetting Started with AnkiHub/AnKingâ deck
You already have Getting Started with Anki listed. In Deck Management:
- Check if you can Sync to install that deck (if itâs not yet installed) or sync updates to it.
If neither deck syncs, it points to a more general connection or authentication issue with AnkiHub on your device.
5. Please share the AnkiHub error log
If the above doesnât fix it, the next step is to check the AnkiHub log:
- Go to AnkiHub â Help â Show Logs (or similar, depending on your version).
- After clicking Sync to install, open the log and:
- Copy any lines that look like errors or tracebacks, or
- Take a screenshot of the relevant part.
- Post that here (you can redact your email/username if youâd like).
That will show if thereâs, for example, a permission/subscription check failing or a request timing out.
If youâre comfortable, also let me know:
- Whether the AnKing Step Deck page on the AnkiHub website shows a green âSubscribedâ label.
- Whether you have any VPN, firewall, or antivirus running that might block connections (even though AnkiWeb works).
Reply with what you see after trying steps 1â4 and we can narrow this down further.
Hello,
I would be happy to help.
Just to make sure weâre not overlooking anything obvious: are you seeing any error messages, or similar?
After clicking âSync to installâ, nothing happens. It just closes the Deck Management window and returns me to the Anki home screen. There is no progress bar, no loading indicator, and no error message.
Initially, after multiple sync attempts on my home Wi-Fi, I started getting HTTP 429 (Too Many Requests) in both Anki and AnkiMobile. That issue disappeared when I switched to my mobile hotspot, and I can now access AnkiWeb normally.
However, even on the hotspot, âSync to installâ still does nothing. The deck remains listed as âThis deck is not installed yet.â
I have already:
-
Reinstalled the AnkiHub add-on.
-
Confirmed I am logged into the correct AnkiHub account.
-
Verified that my AnKing Step Deck subscription is active.
-
Tested on a different network (mobile hotspot).
Is there a way to enable more detailed logging or could someone check the logs I uploaded?
Can you copy and paste the filename of the logs you uploaded, just so I can have someone take a look for you?

I managed to fix the issue. In my case, the problem turned out to be related to my original Anki profile. Even though I was using the same AnkiWeb account, creating a new local Anki profile, signing into the same AnkiWeb account, and syncing from scratch fixed it. After that, âSync to installâ worked normally and the AnKing Step Deck installed without any issues. It seems my original local profile had somehow become corrupted or stuck.
