Cannot click on terms and conditions when ankihub opens

I would like to request some assistance with a workaround to accept the terms and conditions button. I too have an older version of anki and I am unable to update. I recently purchased ankihub subscription and I cannot use it because my computer wont allow me to click the box to accept the terms and condition. I have seen that previously someone on the support system side has bypassed terms and conditions and accepted it.

Thank you for reaching out about your issue with accepting the terms and conditions in AnkiHub. This appears to be an interface problem that can occur with older versions of Anki.

The Issue

You’re experiencing a problem where you cannot click the checkbox to accept the terms and conditions when opening AnkiHub, which is preventing you from using your subscription.

Recommendation

Since you’re unable to update your Anki version (which would likely resolve this issue), there are a few options:

  1. Contact AnkiHub Support directly:
Based on your mention that someone previously bypassed this requirement for another user, the most direct solution would be to email the AnkiHub support team at support@ankihub.net. Explain your situation, including:

    • That you’ve purchased a subscription
    • You’re using an older version of Anki that you cannot update
    • You cannot interact with the terms and conditions checkbox
  2. Try a different display scaling:
Sometimes interface elements can be inaccessible due to display scaling issues. Try adjusting your computer’s display settings temporarily.

  3. Alternative browser method:
If the terms and conditions need to be accepted on the web interface as well, try visiting https://app.ankihub.net directly to see if you can accept the terms there.

The AnkiHub add-on may have minimum Anki version requirements that aren’t being met with your current installation, which could be causing this interface problem. The support team can provide the best guidance specific to your situation.

Please let us know if you’re able to resolve this issue after contacting support, as your experience might help other users facing similar problems.

Yeah, Anki updates are always a mixed bag.

A couple of things that I’ll share, just for due diligence:

Because of the way that add-ons work, including AnkiHub, as they continue to be updated it is inevitable that, if you’re on an older version of Anki, they will inevitably fall into a discrepancy. In addition to this is operating-system support, which will also eventually age out.

Essentially, if you stay on an older version forever it will be inevitable that you’ll run into some add-on and/or support issues eventually that will likely require updating. That is obviously not going to happen today or tomorrow, but just giving you a heads up for down the road.

A couple of things we can try first:

  • Try logging into Ankihub.net, then clicking ‘Settings’ at the top of your screen. From here, see if you can fill in the ‘Study Preferences’ portion from the website there.
  • Once you’ve done that, try restarting Anki in Safe Mode and ensuring that your add-ons are up to date.
  • Once you’ve done both of those, restart Anki as normal

I’m not 100% certain that will resolve the issue, but we can certainly give it a shot and go from there.
