Can't access my anking deck when ankihub addon is enabled

As the title says, i have disabled all my add-ons, and turned them on one by one, and all of them made the deck work fine, except ankihub add-on, with it on, no matter how many times i click on the deck, it doesn’t open, all other decks work just fine.

Thanks for the detailed troubleshooting you’ve already done—that helps narrow things down a lot.

Since:

  • The AnKing deck works with all other add-ons, and
  • It only fails to open when AnkiHub is enabled, and
  • Other decks open fine even with AnkiHub on,

it’s very likely an issue specific to the AnkiHub–AnKing sync link or configuration.

Try these steps in order:

1. Check for an error message in the console

  1. In Anki, go to:
Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → View Files → Open Console (or just open the normal Anki debug console via Ctrl+Shift+: / Cmd+Shift+:, depending on your OS).
  2. With the console open, click on the AnKing deck again.
  3. See if any red error trace appears and screenshot it / copy it.

If you get an error, share that in the topic — it will help support pinpoint the cause.

2. Confirm Anki & AnkiHub versions

Make sure you’re on supported versions:

  • Anki: ideally a recent 2.1.6x+ version (check via Help → About).
  • AnkiHub add-on:
    • Go to Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → View Add-on Page and confirm it matches the latest version listed on AnkiWeb / AnkiHub docs.
    • If not, update it, restart Anki, and test the deck again.

Outdated versions commonly cause “deck not opening” with no visible error.

3. Verify the deck is properly linked to AnkiHub

Sometimes a broken or partial link to AnkiHub can cause issues:

  1. With AnkiHub enabled, right-click the AnKing deck.
  2. Look for menu entries like “Manage AnkiHub Sync”, “Unlink from AnkiHub”, or similar.
  3. If you can open a deck info / AnkiHub settings window from there, try:
    • Temporarily unlinking the deck from AnkiHub.
    • Restart Anki.
    • See if the deck opens normally when unlinked.
  4. If it opens after unlinking, then:
    • Re-link the deck to AnkiHub from the AnkiHub menu (AnkiHub → Link deck or similar).
    • Test again.

4. Try on a fresh profile (to confirm it’s not profile corruption)

  1. File → Switch Profile → Add → create a new empty profile.
  2. Install only the AnkiHub add-on there.
  3. Import a backup of your AnKing deck (or download a fresh copy if you have it).
  4. Link that deck to AnkiHub (if applicable) and then click on it.
  • If it works in the new profile, something in your original profile (config or data) is conflicting.
  • If it still doesn’t work, that strongly suggests a bug/compatibility issue in AnkiHub itself.

5. Please share a bit more info

To help get this fixed faster, reply in your topic with:

  • Your Anki version (e.g., 2.1.65 Qt6)
  • Your AnkiHub add-on version
  • Your OS (Windows / macOS / Linux + version)
  • Whether the AnKing deck is linked to an AnkiHub shared deck
  • What happens on a new test profile (step 4)
  • Any console error output from step 1

Once you post that info, the team / community can better reproduce and suggest a precise fix. If you’d like, I can also help you interpret any error messages you find.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Can you share a bit more detail about the specific difficulties you’re running into?

Specifically when you say the deck otherwise is ‘working fine’ can you help us understand what it is about the deck that is not working fine when you have the Ankihub add-on running? Are you seeing an error message, or is Anki crashing, etc.?

The more context you can share the easier it may be to be of help. Screenshots are ideal, if you can, just so I can see what you’re seeing

Additionally, if you can check your Anki version number just to make sure that would also be helpful

If you can, within Anki go to your top menu bar. From there, click Anki - About Anki and check your version number.

hello, sent in a bug report after chating with the ai, i hope it is of help there
