Have a io one by one card with image , want to split into multiple cards like cloze c1, c2 but for io cards
I’ll help you understand how to create multiple “hide one, guess one” IO cards from a single image in Anki. Let me search for relevant information in the AnkiHub community forum first.

I see you’re trying to split an Image Occlusion (IO) card into multiple cards similar to how cloze deletions work with c1, c2, etc. Let me help with that!
Understanding IO Cards in Anki
Image Occlusion cards in Anki are designed to work differently from cloze deletion cards. When you create an IO card, Anki automatically generates a separate card for each shape/area you add to the image.
How to Create Multiple IO Cards from One Image
-
Open the Add screen in Anki
-
Select “Image Occlusion” from the note types
-
Load your image by clicking “Select Image” or “Paste image from clipboard”
-
Add multiple shapes to your image using the tools on the left:
- Rectangle
- Ellipse
- Polygon
-
Choose your IO mode:
- “Hide All, Guess One”: All areas are hidden and only one area is revealed at a time
- “Hide One, Guess One”: Only one area is hidden and revealed during learning
-
Click “Add” and Anki will create a separate card for each shape you’ve added
Each shape you add will become its own card, similar to how c1, c2, etc. work in cloze deletions.
Tips for Effective IO Cards
- Create clear, distinct shapes for each area you want to test
- Use the appropriate mode based on your learning needs
- Make sure your image is clear and high resolution for better visibility
If you’re having any specific issues implementing this approach, please provide more details about what’s not working for you!
Hello,
It looks like the bot may have answered your question but please let us know if there is anything else we can help with
Hey Brian,
this is about ankihub IO one by one addon , the bot has answered about the nomal IO cards.
The AnKing IO-one by one note type doesn’t currently support generating multiple cards unfortunately due to Anki limitations.
