Would it be possible and or is it in the works with suggestions that could work with things like the export tag add-on. This feature would work as almost the opposite of “protecting” it would make it so you can say your only suggesting to change lets say the Pixorize tags/Fields with this suggestion? Hope this makes sense.
I don’t understand the idea you’re proposing. Can you link to the add-on are you referring to?
If you’ve protected all your personal stuff and then sync, the only suggestion made would be your new addition
I think this idea refers to the suggestion of only a single tag change. In other words, the dialog when making a suggestion to AnkiHub would allow you to select a single element to suggest (via comparison to the current version of the card on AnkiHub). By doing this, you wouldn’t need to protect all of your personal tags or even fields, as the tag would just get compared to the current tag (if it exists) on the associated card.
Yeah @Blue nailed it on the head. I would have found this helpful when I was making the big changes on Pixorize and OME.
@jakub.f I suggested a similar workflow before. How difficult is something like this to implement?
It’s just frustrating when we have to reject submission suggestions because they were not up-to-date and they were missing some tags that are now being deleted. I’m worried that people are not willing to go back and re-sync and then resubmit their changes. I see this frequently with the uworld QID tags.
Yeah, I think a workflow for this could look like the following:
- if new tags or updated tags are selected as a suggestion type a new window pops up
- the user is then prompted to select whether they want to add tags, remove tags, or both
- now they select which tags to “add” and then “delete” in a separate window (depending on what was selected)
- those tags are sent to AnkiHub and the remainder of the tags are ignored
Interesting. Do you think it would also work if suggestions only contained changes to the tags?
For example if a note previously had tags A and B and you add a tag C and suggest the change, the suggestion would just add tag C, even if the note currently only has tag A (tag B was removed in the mean time). So after the suggestion gets accepted the note has tags A and C and not B.
I feel like this would be a convenient solution to the problem described here:

I think that would be a good way to go about it.
