Help with rescheduling

Hello, sorry to bother. I am not very well educated about ease, intervals and all the technical aspect of anki, I purely used it to study and memorization ---->I did reschedule like 1000 cards few days ago and cut it into chunks of 150 on various day now these 150 cards have a new interval time for each button (example cards should have been 15-20 days on the good button but now its like 6-8 days) what did happen and how do I avoid that when I reschedule something

Hello,

Let me ask you some informations to help me understand your problem:

Are you using the FSRS algorithm?

If youโ€™re not using your FSRS algorithm, can you show me your SM2(the older algorithm that uses ease) settings?

About the rescheduling: did you do the rescheduling with an add-on or with Anki native options for that?

Thereโ€™s any additional information that you think might me useful to understand your problem?

Also, howโ€™d you know the expected intervals?

Letโ€™s see what we can figure out after those informations are clarified, then we can start troubleshooting this issue

I use these settings that I find comfortable (though what is FSRS โ†’ would it decrease intervals or increase them โ€ฆ)

Anyway I used card selection then set due date and then either 1! or 2! etcโ€ฆ

FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Software) is a new algorithm thatโ€™s available in Anki, itโ€™s the best algorithm that Anki has ever had. AnKing made a new video about it: https://youtu.be/uo-qQvOZDfg?si=479VHVpjZAdm6nQL

If you include โ€œ!โ€, the interval gets changed

See what the Anki manual says about Set Due Date:
" Entering a range like 60-90 will make the selected cards due between 60 and 90 days from now. New cards will have their interval set to the same delay, but review cards will be rescheduled without changing their current interval, unless an exclamation mark (! ) is included at the end of the range."

oh my god, I just messed up 1000 cards.

Was there a way to reschedule them for the day I want (because without ! its random as u said) without changing the interval?

As explained in the Anki examples:

  • If you just enter a number, it will change only the cardโ€™s due date and wonโ€™t be random.
Example: If you enter โ€œ7โ€, the card will be due in one week.

  • If you enter a number followed by โ€œ!โ€, it will change both the due date and the cardโ€™s interval.
Example: If you enter โ€œ7!โ€, the card will be due in one week, and its interval will also be set to 7 days.

  • If you enter a range, the due date will be randomized within that range.
Example: If you enter โ€œ1-7โ€, the card will be due on a random day between 1 and 7.

I hope this clarifies it for you!
