High yield tag issue

I just downloaded and synced the new v12 anking step deck, and there’s only 39 cards in the high yield tag. What is going on?

Thanks!

You’re not doing anything wrong—this is expected behavior with the new v12 Step deck.

In v12 of the AnKing Overhaul for Step 1 & 2, the “High Yield” tagging system was heavily reworked. Many of the older ::High Yield / High_Yield tags were:

  • Consolidated into more specific tags (e.g. High_Yield_Step, AnKing::HighYield-style tags, etc.), or
  • Removed from lower‑yield or duplicate cards so that only truly high‑yield cards keep that label.

Because of that cleanup, it’s normal to see far fewer cards under the single High Yield tag if you filter just that one tag in your collection—39 is plausible depending on:

  • Whether you’re looking at the exact tag name (e.g. High Yield vs High_Yield vs nested tags like AnKing::High_Yield)
  • Whether you’ve fully updated and resynced with AnkiHub so all tag changes pulled in
  • Whether some subdecks or tags are still suspended/unsuspended differently

A few things to check:

  1. Confirm the exact tags present
In the Anki Browser sidebar, expand the Tags tree and look for:

    • AnKing::High_Yield
    • High_Yield / High Yield
    • Other similar “high yield” tags (e.g. High_Yield_Step, etc.)

You may find that the “high-yield” content is now spread over a few updated tags rather than one single High Yield tag.

  2. Make sure AnkiHub sync is complete

    • In Anki: Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → Open and make sure:
      • You’re subscribed to “AnKing Overhaul for Step 1 & 2 v12” (or similar official v12 name).
      • There are no pending conflicts / errors.
    • Click “Sync with AnkiHub” again to ensure all latest tag changes are applied.
  3. Search all ‘high yield’–like tags together
In the Browser search bar, try:

    tag:*High*Yield*

That will catch any variation containing “High” and “Yield” in the tag name and give you a better idea of how many cards are truly considered high yield in v12.

If you can share a screenshot of your tag list for this deck from the Browser, I can help you pinpoint exactly which high‑yield tags you should be using in v12 and whether 39 reflects just one narrow tag vs all high‑yield content.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

If you can, can you share a screenshot of what you’re seeing, just so I’m on the same page and best able to be of help?

Thank you so much!

Gotcha, thank you for that.

It looks like you may be looking at an old version of the tag. You might take a look here and see what you find:

Give that a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away.
