How do I move my notes in extra to another tag like lecture notes so that I can get the updated ankihub extra info? If I unprotect it, will the info be erased?

You can just copy-and-paste anything that is in one field, to another field. That would be the most straightforward method:

If you unprotect a field, and that field is then updated, it is likely that any material currently in that field will be overwritten, yeah.

what if you want to do it on a mass scale? ie all cards in the extra field to lecture notes. I did not realize anki hub placed info in the extra field tab

Hmm, I’m not immediately sure if there is a clean way to do that.

I know it’s possible with some python coding, and/or by changing note types (neither of which might be advisable here, given the constraints of AnkiHub).

You might try searching around, and/or looking at add-ons, as there may be a way to do it, though I’m not immediately aware of anything.

@MarcosZan I feel like I remember you recommending something to someone, a couple of weeks ago. Do you have any neat tricks here that I’m overlooking? I’ve never had to do this, so I think I don’t have a clean answer here.

The add on worked. But I am currently trying to sync to receive the updates in the extra section and it is not working after unprotecting the extra field.

I’ve never needed to copy a field into another, so I’m not sure about that. Maybe you’re referring to the Batch Edit addon? But as far as I know, that addon only inserts the same text into the selected fields.

I think your add-on recommendation was spot on!

Hello,

Make sure the fields you want to protect are actually protected.
After that, you can reset local changes using this guide: How to Reset Local Changes
