How to exempt a tag when suggesting note update?

Hi

Let’s say there’s a not with Tag 1, Tag 2, and Tag 3 all from a deck on Ankihub. I have my own personal tag for my own personal reasons: Tag 4. I find a note that needs a change and I want to suggest it but the note also has Tag 4. I don’t want Tag 4 to be in my suggestion request, I just want it to remain as an offline tag for myself because it won’t benefit anyone else. Is there a way to do this Or do I just have to make a new optional tag and use that?

It’s not that I want to protect my personal tags. I mean, I do, but what I’m asking is something else I think. Let me explain with an example. Say I have a deck from Ankihub with this card and the following tags that are from Ankihub:

Front: Why did the chicken cross the road?

Back: Because it felt like it

Tags: Ankihub_tag1 Ankihub_tag2

Obviously, that’s wrong, so I want to fix it and update the note and also add my own tag:

Front: Why did the chicken cross the road?

Back: To get to the other side

Tags: Ankihub_tag1 Ankihub_tag2 Mytag

Now, I want to make my suggestion in Ankihub so that the back of the card is corrected. If I do that, will Mytag also be uploaded as part of the suggestion? I know that putting Mytag in my protected tags protects it from being overwritten but does it also prevent from being included in my update note suggestion? Or is this only possible with the Ankihub_Optional tags?

I hope this question is more clear than my initial post.

Yep, same as above. :slight_smile:

From what I gather of your description I believe you will want to protect your personal tags.

If your tag is not protected, it will show up along with the suggestion. If your tag is protected, it will not show up along with the suggestion.
