Reading: I need help now I unsuspended all my cards by mistake then deleted the asking deck to try like reset it or smt now it just says custom study and won’t let me unsuspend any cards from the smart search and I’m so lost please help
Thanks for posting this here!
Right now your post only contains the description text of the Support category, but not your actual problem. From the title it sounds like:
- You accidentally unsuspended all cards
- Then deleted the AnKing deck (or another AnkiHub deck) to “reset”
- Now your deck list only shows “Custom Study”
- And you can’t unsuspend cards from the AnkiHub Smart Search anymore
To help you properly, please reply with:
- Exactly which deck you were using (e.g., “AnKing Overhaul for AnkiHub”, another shared deck, or your own).
- Whether that deck is still subscribed to on AnkiHub (in the AnkiHub add-on → Decks tab / or on the AnkiHub website).
- A screenshot of your main Anki screen (deck list) and
- A screenshot of the AnkiHub Smart Search window where it won’t let you unsuspend.
In the meantime, here are the usual recovery steps for this situation:
1. Check if the deck is actually deleted or just filtered
- In Anki’s main window, look for:
- The original deck name (e.g. “AnKing Step 1 & 2” / “AnKing Overhaul for AnkiHub”)
- Or a deck with a
:: in the name (subdecks)
- If you only see “Custom Study Session”, that’s a temporary filtered deck. It’s not your real deck.
If that’s the case, click Custom Study → Empty or Delete, then see if your real deck appears again.
2. Re‑download or resubscribe to the AnkiHub deck
If you truly deleted the main deck:
- Open AnkiHub add‑on:
- In Anki, go to
Tools → AnkiHub.
- Go to the Decks tab.
- Find the deck you were using:
- If it shows as Subscribed, click it and choose Download or Sync to restore it into Anki.
- If it does not show, go to the AnkiHub website, open the deck’s page, and click Subscribe, then return to Anki and sync via the add‑on.
This will recreate the deck in Anki and re‑link it to AnkiHub.
3. Fix mass‑unsuspended cards using AnkiHub
Once the correct deck is back and linked:
- Open AnkiHub Smart Search (via AnkiHub add‑on).
- Make sure the correct deck is selected at the top.
- Use a search like:
is:review is:suspended (for suspended cards)
is:review -is:suspended (for unsuspended cards)
- Use the Suspend/Unsuspend buttons in Smart Search to set them back how you want.
If Smart Search won’t let you change suspension:
- Confirm the deck is marked as an AnkiHub deck (in AnkiHub → Decks).
- Make sure you aren’t inside a Custom Study / Filtered deck view when trying to change cards.
- Try restarting Anki after restoring the deck.
4. If nothing works
Reply with:
- The exact text of any error message
- Those screenshots (main deck list + Smart Search)
- Whether you changed anything in:
Tools → Preferences → Backups
- Or used
Tools → Manage Note Types
So I can give you step‑by‑step instructions tailored to your setup, and if needed, guide you through restoring from an Anki backup.
no none of that helped really
theres now 2 sets of the anking deck - anking step deck and then anking step deck (ankihub) neither with the instructuons deck like it used to have and both with the same problem
