I'm seeing math jax code when I should be seeing the text that it's trying to represent for the cards

Hello all. So I donā€™t know if this an addon issue or if thereā€™s an option that I simply havenā€™t toggled on or off but for some cards related to equations or reactions I will the see the actual math jax code thatā€™s supposed to display the equation rather than the equation itself. Here is an example of this. This often happens for example in the extra notes section or cards related to the rate equations for 1st, 2nd and zeroth order reactions. But then there are instance specifically if the card is in a cloze of question where the equation is displayed as intended. Whatā€™s going on? Is there an option that I havenā€™t checked on?

Hello,

Are you using the Anking Note Types addon?

I am using the latest version.

Of the addon?

Okay, great. If you have the latest version of the Note Types addon you may want to use it to reset your note types. Iā€™m not certain that this is the issue,
but itā€™s the most likely source that weā€™ll want to eliminate up front.

First, youā€™ll navigate to the addon page:

Then select the MCAT note type, and hit reset:

From there, restart Anki and let me know if that does the trick for you.

I did so and it definitely fixed some formatting and some older settings I had like the bionic reading but it didnā€™t fix the Math Jax formatting. This is the same card now. The Math Jax output in the notes section still isnā€™t showing the correct output. But thank you for the advice.

Thatā€™s some progress, at least.

Next letā€™s try resetting local changes: Resetting Local Changes

Additionally, please let me know if you want to, or need help with, turning off the Bionic reading settings.

Let me know how this works for you.

So Iā€™ve the resetting local changes. Now this is an aside for the bionic reading. When I resetted the anking notetypes it gave me back the bionic reading for the Anking MCAT deck only. But when I opened up the bionic reading addon and toggled some of the cards in order to have cards in other my other decks that use anking note types, saved my settings and restarted anki it didnā€™t work and those settings resetted themselves back. Iā€™m not entirely sure why thatā€™s happening. But when I resetted the notetypes from the AnKing Notetypes extension it fixed the bionic reading again.

Back to the issue of the math jax. The resetting the local changes unfortunately didnā€™t fix the issue. It still displays the output as code rather than the correct output.

Just so Iā€™m on the same page:

From the Anking Note Types addon you reset the MCAT note type and which other note types?

Well first I resetted the MCAT notetype but then I decided to do reset all of the note types. That only fixed issue with teh bionic reading. Unfortunately resetting the note types and resetting the deck to the local changes which is what you suggested after hasnā€™t fixed the issue that output of the Math Jax code still appears as the code rather as the proper output. Which is my main issue because it interferes when Iā€™m reviewing.

Out of curiosity: can you tell me what addons youā€™re using, aside from Ankihub and the Anking Note Types?

Here is a list of my notetypes:

Just on a wild guess, letā€™s do the following:

Disable the Special Fields addon. Restart Anki.

From there, letā€™s reset note types and reset local changes again. You may have to restart once again after making those changes.

I have a feeling that addon is preventing the updates from appropriately maintaining that field

I did as you said and that didnā€™t change anything unfortunately.

Just to confirm:

You disabled the Special Fields addon, restarted Anki, then reset both the note types as well as local changes, restarted Anki again, and itā€™s still displaying as in the image?

Yes. :frowning:

Itā€™s always worth temporarily disabling all add-ons to narrow down the cause:

Did you used to have the Mobile Pop-up Dictionary add-on from AnKing? Itā€™s used to have such issue.

Can export a single card and share it here?
