Issue unsuspending cards

Hello! I’ve been using the Anking Deck for Step 1 for the last month or so and found it extremely helpful. However, in the last few days, I’ve noticed some issues when I try to unsuspend cards. For instance, when I attempted to unsuspend a subdeck containing about 90 cards, only 10 of them showed up in my “New” tab. For the deck, my daily new card limit is set at 250.

I’ll help you with this issue regarding unsuspending cards. Let me search for relevant information to address your problem effectively.

Hi Justin, welcome to the AnkiHub Community!

The issue you’re experiencing with unsuspending cards is likely related to how Anki handles daily limits. While you’ve set your daily new card limit to 250, there are a few possible explanations for why only 10 of the 90 cards are showing up:

  1. Daily limits apply differently across subdecks: In Anki’s V3 scheduler (the most recent), each deck and subdeck has its own limit. If you’re studying a parent deck that contains the subdeck you unsuspended, the subdeck might have a lower new card limit than the parent deck.

  2. Review limits affecting new cards: By default, new cards are capped by your review limit. If you have a backlog of reviews, this could be limiting the number of new cards that appear. This setting can be changed in deck options.

  3. Siblings being buried: If you have the “bury related new cards” option enabled in your deck options, Anki will automatically hide sibling cards (cards from the same note) until the next day.

To fix this issue, try the following:

  1. Check the specific deck options for the subdeck:

    • Right-click on the deck in the deck list
    • Select “Options”
    • Look at the “New cards/day” setting for that specific subdeck
    • Also check if “New Cards Ignore Review Limit” is enabled
  2. Verify that the cards are actually unsuspended:

    • In the browser, make sure you’re viewing “Cards” and not “Notes” mode
    • Look for the suspended indicator (a small circle with a line through it)
  3. Check if you have a limit on the maximum number of reviews per day that might be affecting your new cards.

If you need more specific help, please let me know which deck you’re using and I can provide more targeted advice.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

It looks like the bot did a pretty good cross-section of responding to your question but please let us know if, after double-checking those things, you’re still left with any questions or confusion. Happy to help however we can. :mending_heart:

Thank you! I’ve gone through the steps the bot suggested and I’m still encountering the same issue. Is there any information I can provide that would help with troubleshooting?

Hi,

Please make sure that you have the limit you want in all these tabs.

Also, click on the arrow next to the save button and click to “Save to all subecks” if you have subdecks.

Ok, I’ve just done that, including saving for subdecks. What should I try next?

Please send us a screenshot of your Anki main screen showing your decks and another of your browser showing the cards that were unsuspended but didn’t show up.

This will help us figure out what’s going on!

Here are the screenshots, the cards I’ve attempted to add are the 4 subdecks under 01_GI

The image you shared, specifically the differential in new cards listed as being available, indicates that it is almost certainly a deck and/or preset issue:

You mentioned having looked over the initial recommendations from the bot, though you might double-check as I suspect they are still germane to your issue:

I’m not sure I see a ‘01_GI’ in the images you shared. But, from the first image you shared, the cards in question will tell you where they are located in the ‘deck’ column. In this case, they appear to be in a Zanki subdeck:

Give those things a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away.
