Making a filtered deck with specific cards

Hello,

I am trying to create a filtered deck from the AnKing deck with specific cards based on practice questions I want to study more. Ideally, I would do a UWorld question set, find the specific cards that relate to those topics, add some sort of identifier to them, and then move those into a filtered deck. Each day, I want to be able to add more cards to this same deck. Does anyone know the best way to do this? I was thinking of creating my own tag, but I think that would get overwritten when I sync the deck. Is there a way to protect a custom tag?

Just a quick reminder: the only way to add new cards to a filtered deck is to rebuild it, which resets the deck. So, if you added tags to new cards and want them to be included in an existing filtered deck, you must click the “Rebuild” button. Unfortunately, this is a limitation of Anki.
