It looks like you’ve copied the category description into your post, but haven’t yet described your actual problem.
To help you with the “deck stopped in the middle while installing / error occurred” issue, please reply with:
What exactly you were doing
Were you:
Importing an .apkg file?
Syncing a shared AnkiHub deck?
Updating an existing AnkiHub deck?
The exact error message
Copy‑paste the error text from Anki/AnkiHub or
Attach a screenshot of the error window.
Environment details
Device & OS (e.g. Windows 11, macOS 14, Linux, etc.)
Anki version (in Anki: Help → About)
AnkiHub add‑on version (in Anki: Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub).
What happened to the deck
Does it show partially in your collection?
Is it missing entirely?
Are you able to open Anki normally now?
In the meantime, you can try these quick checks (they often fix “stopped mid‑install” issues):
Restart Anki and your computer.
In Anki, go to Tools → Check Database and let it repair if needed.
If Anki won’t open or keeps erroring:
Start Anki while holding Shift to temporarily disable all add‑ons.
If that works, re‑enable AnkiHub and try the import/sync again.
If it was an AnkiHub deck:
On AnkiHub, open the deck page and make sure you’re subscribed.
In Anki, go to Tools → AnkiHub → Sync Subscribed Decks again and see if it completes.
Please post the details above (and a screenshot if you can). With that, I can narrow down whether it’s an Anki/AnkiHub sync issue, a corrupted download, or something else, and suggest specific next steps.
Thank you for your reply marcos,
Anking Step deck was getting installed and i was on my laptop and we had a electricity outage in our area which lead to abrupt loss of network, the second time i did it
it got installed and working fine
although after downloading the full media as well some images are shown as that broken jpeg icons
if you know something about that please let me know
That is great news! I am glad to hear the deck installation worked.
The media files can take a significant amount of time to download depending on your internet speed, as there are many images in the deck. You can check the status of the download by following these steps:
Open the AnkiHub add-on menu in Anki.
Check what the media sync status says:
If it shows “Downloading”: your media is still being downloaded, just wait until it says “Idle”.
If it shows “Idle”: the media sync should be complete.
Please ensure that you only have the “Lecture Notes” and “Missed Questions” fields protected.
Here is a tutorial: How to Manage Protected Fields
Note that some fields, like First Aid and Boards and Beyond, are subject to copyright, so their images are not synced within the AnKing deck. To access the First-Aid or Boards and Beyond content you will need a separate subscription to that resource.
