I understand you’re having trouble with AnkiHub sync after accidentally opening it in a different Anki profile. This is a common issue since Anki profiles and AnkiHub sync don’t work well together.

What’s happening

Based on your description, you opened AnkiHub in a profile that wasn’t your main one. When you switched back to your regular profile, you’re seeing a “AnkiHub sync cancelled” message.

Important to know

Anki profiles are designed for different users on the same computer, and each profile maintains its own separate collection. According to Anki’s documentation:

Only a single profile can be synced to an AnkiWeb account. Similarly, AnkiHub is designed to work with a single profile.

How to fix this

  1. Use only one profile with AnkiHub: Make sure you’re only using AnkiHub with your primary profile.

  2. Restart Anki completely: Close Anki entirely and reopen it, selecting your main profile.

  3. Try syncing again: Once in your main profile, try to sync with AnkiHub again.

  4. Check your subscriptions: In your main profile, verify that all your AnkiHub deck subscriptions are still active.

If you’re continuing to experience issues, you might need to:

  • Log out of AnkiHub in both profiles and log back in only on your main profile
  • Ensure you’re using the latest version of the AnkiHub add-on

Preventing future issues

It’s best to stick with a single Anki profile for all your AnkiHub activities. If you need to maintain separate content, consider using separate decks rather than separate profiles.

Does this help resolve your issue? If you’re still experiencing problems, please provide more details about what happens when you try to sync now.
