I subscribed to the Deckolina deck. The cards worked initially, but now every Cloze note has empty fields. Every card says “No cloze 1 found on card.” The Text field is completely blank in the Browser. I reinstalled Anki, ran Check Database, synced AnkiHub (no updates), and AnkiWeb mirrors the same issue. I deleted empty cards, but the entire deck seems to vanish. what can i do?

Thanks for the detailed description — that helps narrow down what’s going on.
When all cloze notes suddenly show “No cloze 1 found on card” and the Text field is blank, it almost always means:
- The note type / fields got changed, or
- The text field content was deleted and then synced, so now every device and AnkiWeb mirror the empty state.
Because AnkiWeb and all devices now show empty fields, this can’t be fixed by just reinstalling Anki; we need to either restore from a backup or re‑download the deck from AnkiHub.
1. Check Anki’s automatic backups
On your computer:
- Go to File → Switch Profile… → Open Backup… (or File → Open Backup… depending on your version).
- Look for a backup from before the problem started (date/time wise).
- Open it and:
- Go to Browse, search for
Deckolina, and check if those cloze cards show normal text again.
- Go to Browse, search for
- If they look correct:
- Keep that backup open.
- You can either:
- Use that backup profile going forward (and then reinstall AnkiHub and resubscribe to Deckolina), or
- Export just that deck from the backup and import it into your main profile (being careful with existing data).
If all backups also show blank Text fields, then the data was already gone when the backups were made, and you’ll need to re‑pull the deck from AnkiHub.
2. Verify the note type & template (quick checks)
In the profile where you see the issue:
- Browse → select a broken card from Deckolina.
- In the right pane, confirm:
- Note type is still the Deckolina cloze type (or whatever it was originally called).
- The “Text” (or main cloze) field is actually empty and not just failing to render.
- Click Cards… and check:
- The front template has something like
{{cloze:Text}}(or similar). - If
Textwas renamed/deleted, template might be asking for a field that doesn’t exist.
- The front template has something like
If the template is broken and you changed it by accident, we can repair it by restoring the original Deckolina note type from a fresh subscription (see below).
3. Re‑add the Deckolina deck from AnkiHub
If no backup has the text and the fields in the notes are truly empty, the only option is to re-download the shared deck from AnkiHub:
- Make a safety copy:
- File → Export…
- Export your current collection (or at least Deckolina) just in case.
- In AnkiHub (Anki add‑on):
- Open AnkiHub → Subscriptions.
- Unsubscribe from Deckolina.
- In Anki, delete the local Deckolina deck (only if you’re sure it’s already empty / corrupted).
- Then:
- In AnkiHub, subscribe again to the Deckolina deck.
- Let it download all notes from AnkiHub fresh.
- After sync:
- Check in Browse that newly downloaded Deckolina cards show the clozes and no longer say “No cloze 1 found on card.”
This will restore the shared deck as it exists on AnkiHub. Any local edits not pushed to AnkiHub earlier will be lost, but from your description, the text is already gone across devices.
4. If you changed fields or note types manually
If you ever:
- Renamed fields (e.g., changed
Textto something else), - Changed the Deckolina note type to a different one,
- Or edited the card templates,
then the AnkiHub sync might still think the notes are “in sync” structurally but Anki no longer knows where to find cloze 1. In that case, a full reset of the note type from the official Deckolina subscription is usually needed:
- After re‑subscribing, make sure you’re using the official Deckolina note type that comes with the deck.
- Avoid renaming fields or changing templates in that note type going forward.
5. Next step: I can be more specific if you share this
To give you a more targeted step‑by‑step, it would help to know:
- In Browse, click one of the broken Deckolina notes:
- What note type is shown at the top right?
- Are all fields empty, or just the main Text/cloze field?
- When you open a recent backup (from before it broke), do those Deckolina cards look normal?
If you reply with that info in the topic, I can walk you through the exact recovery path (backup vs. resubscribe + reset).
Hello,
I would be happy to help. ![]()
I can’t say that I’m familiar with the ‘Deckolina’ deck in particular, though I do seem to see that it looks like you may have protected the text field on your notes:
By protecting this field, AnkiHub is necessarily unable to write to this field and so the text field is unable to update that field
Unprotecting that field will allow AnkiHub to edit, and populate, that field
This tutorial can walk you through how to protect/unprotect given fields: How to manage protected fields
Once you’ve done that, you may need to push a corroboration check of your local collection against the server copy. This tutorial can walk you through how to do that: Resetting Local Changes
Give that a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away. ![]()
THAT FIXED IT !!! THANK YOU SO MUCH ![]()
been trying to troubleshoot this for hours !!
