Fixing Premium Board & Beyond Links on iPhone

Hi there! I understand you’re having trouble with Board and Beyond links not showing up on your iPhone even though they work on your laptop. Let me help you with this issue.

Possible Solutions

Based on the information in our community, here are a few things to check:

  1. Update your AnkiHub Add-on: First, make sure you have the latest version of the AnkiHub add-on on your computer.

  2. Verify Anki Mobile Settings: The McGraw Hill integration (which includes Board & Beyond) is primarily designed for the desktop version of Anki. On iOS devices, the experience may be different.

  3. Check AnkiHub Premium Status: Confirm that your AnkiHub premium subscription is properly linked to your account on both devices.

  4. Resource Unprotection: You mentioned you “unprotected” Board and Beyond in AnkiHub, which is good. This should allow the links to appear.

iOS-Specific Considerations

Mobile versions of Anki have some limitations compared to the desktop version. The McGraw Hill integration (which includes Board & Beyond) shows content in a sideviewer within Anki desktop, but this feature may not be fully implemented in the iOS app.

Recommended Next Steps

  1. Restart Anki on iPhone: Make sure you’re opening Anki while having an active internet connection.

  2. Contact Support: If the issue persists, you can email support at support@ankihub.net with specific details about your problem.

For more information about the McGraw Hill integration (which includes Board & Beyond), you can check out the McGraw Hill Integration FAQ.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

It might be worth clarifying a couple of things, first, just to make sure that we’re on the same page:

Since the Anki software does not permit the use of add-ons on mobile devices, certain features will necessarily look different on desktop and mobile and this is unavoidable to some degree.

For example, I’ve included below an image of an example of what a given card would look like on desktop, with the premium BnB features highlighted:

Conversely, the same card on mobile will necessarily display a bit different, and again here I’ve highlighted where the relevant BnB portion can be found:

It might be worth noting that the ‘Boards and Beyond’ field is separate from the Premium offerings, and is meant only for personal use. It is independent of the Premium membership portions that I’ve highlighted above, and unprotecting that field won’t have any effect one way or the other in this case. Just FYI

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.

Yes, this is what I’m looking for on my iOS. The links. I don’t see them on my phone.

Great, did the above explanation answer your question? Is there anything else I can help with?

I don’t have access to the links on my phone. Check the image I posted

Gotcha, thanks for including that image. I didn’t see it in your initial post

If you can, it might be helpful to see a bit more of the card. Given how far down it’s scrolled I can’t quite see the content of the card to be able to identify which note it is, nor the fields that might be above it

Being able to see the other fields present, as well as which note it is, might give a bit more context and make it a bit easier to be of help.

Another example

Gotcha, thanks for that.

In this case, I show the ‘intraparenchymal hemorrhage’ card as not being tagged by BnB, which is why the links aren’t showing up for this particular note.

As with any note, a given tag, or field, will only show up if it is present in that particular card. Thus, in this case, I don’t see that you’re missing any links so much as this card isn’t tagged by BnB and thus there are no links there.

For the second card, we can take a deeper look. Do you know if you have the AnKing Note Types add-on installed on desktop?

Yes it is installed

That’s helpful, thank you.

A couple of things:

First, just to make sure: for the ‘Parinaud syndrome’ card I see in the first image that you shared the Extra section, at the top of your card. Then, I see the bottom of the card, beneath the Sketchy portion, in the second image. If you can, can you double-check that the ‘Boards and Beyond Links’ is not situated between those two?

Your note fields may be in a different order than mine, but just as a rough reference of what I’m hoping to see so I can get a better idea of how your notes are set up:

If you can share a screenshot like that with me, it’ll give me a better lay of the land here.

From there, let’s check a couple of other things:

First, please make sure that your Ankimobile app version is fully updated.

Once you’ve done that, go into desktop Anki , click on the top menu bar: Anki - About Anki. See what your version number is. If it’s anything other than 25.02 you’ll want to update: https://apps.ankiweb.net/

Once you’ve done that, if you don’t already have the AnKing Note Types add-on installed, you’ll want to install that to make sure that your note types are fully up to date. From the top menu bar: Tools - Add-ons - Get Add-ons, and insert this code: 952691989.

Once you’re done with that, restart Anki and it should prompt you to update your note types.

If you already have the AnKing Note Types add-on installed, from your top menu bar go to AnKing - AnKing Note Types, and look at the bottom of the resulting screen where there should be a button that says ‘Update notetypes.’

If you can, click that button and go though that process. If you can’t, if the button is grayed out, please let me know.

Once that’s done, restart Anki once more and then follow this tutorial: Resetting Local Changes

From there, hit sync on desktop Anki. Then, go to Ankimobile and hit sync as well, give it a few moments.

Give those things a shot, and let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there.

All I had to do was update the note types in anking note types. It is showing up now. Thank you.
