Reading: 🔐 Protecting Fields and Tags

Hello! I understand your concern about flags when syncing with AnkiHub.

To answer your question: Flags in Anki are not affected by AnkiHub syncing. This is because flags work at the card level and are part of Anki’s core functionality rather than content that AnkiHub manages.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Flags are a feature of Anki itself, not part of the note content that AnkiHub syncs
  • Unlike fields (which contain content), flags are card properties that remain untouched by AnkiHub updates
  • The “protect fields” feature is specifically for protecting content within note fields from being overwritten during AnkiHub syncs

When you sync with AnkiHub, it’s primarily concerned with the content of your notes (text, images, etc.), not with your personal study tools like flags. Your flags will remain as you’ve set them.

If you want to learn more about protecting fields for other content, you can check out the :locked_with_key: Protecting Fields and Tags documentation, but this isn’t necessary for flags specifically.

Is there anything else about using flags with AnkiHub that you’d like to know?

As the bot said, flags are not affected by sync so should be safe to change.
