Does anyone know why some of the Sketchy images aren’t showing up? I’ve already updated the AnKing note types, and give the images enough time to sync with the device.
-This just happens with some of the Sketchy images.

Hi there! Sorry to see you’re having trouble with Sketchy images not showing up in your Anki deck. Based on the broken image icon you shared, there are a few things we can check to resolve this issue:
Check your AnkiHub media sync status
First, let’s make sure your media is fully synchronized:
Open the AnkiHub add-on menu in Anki
Check what the media sync status says:
If it says “Downloading” - you need to wait until it says “Idle”
If it says “Idle” but images are still missing, continue to the steps below
Common reasons for missing Sketchy images
Check if AnkiHub has finished downloading media
The sync can take up to 60 minutes depending on your internet connection
Verify you’re subscribed to the official deck
Make sure you’re using the official AnKing deck from AnkiHub
Check if the Sketchy field is protected
Protected fields won’t show images even if they exist in your media folder
You can check your protected fields in the AnkiHub settings
Try resetting local changes
Go to Browse
Click on the AnkiHub addon at the top
Select “Reset local changes”
Choose the AnKing deck
For persistent issues
If the above steps don’t resolve the issue:
Check that there is actually content in the Sketchy field by viewing the note on app.AnkiHub.net
Make sure you have the latest version of the AnKing note types
If you need additional assistance, please let us know if you’ve tried these steps and what the results were!
Hello Marcos, thank you for your help. I’ve already tried the first three steps, but I’m still seeing the same symbol on some of the Sketchy flashcards. I haven’t tried the fourth step yet because I don’t want to lose my progress with the flashcards. Do you have any other recommendations?
Here is another example →
I noticed that this isn’t the AnKing Step Deck or any official deck from the AnkiHub team, right?
In that case, if you’re subscribed to this deck on AnkiHub, you’ll need to check the deck wiki to see if there’s a link to download the media. Otherwise, you may need to contact the deck author directly for help with this issue.
Unfortunately, since the problem is related to missing media from a specific deck, it’s not something the AnkiHub team can resolve on our end.
The note type and card shown in the screenshot are not from the AnKing Step Deck.
It’s possible that you’re also subscribed to the AnKing Step Deck on AnkiHub, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the card you’re having issues with is part of that deck.
Did you have any other decks in your Anki before getting the AnKing Step Deck, or have you added any others since then?
(This includes subscribing to other decks on AnkiHub, importing decks from friends, or downloading decks from the internet.)
Let me know so we can better understand where the issue is coming from!
Oh, I see. I had another deck before the subscription, so when I paid for the AnKing Step deck, it only synced with that one. Last night, I reset to local changes, and now instead of missing 10,000 media files, I’m missing 16,000 jajaja. Do you have any recommendations?
I appreciate your help
For cards that are not from the AnKing Step Deck, unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do regarding the missing media. The only way to retrieve those files is by contacting the deck’s author or checking if the deck has a wiki or download link for the media.
As for the missing media warning: it’s a common concern when Anki shows a message about missing files. Many users experience this. However, when it comes to the AnKing Step Deck, there’s usually no need to worry. That message doesn’t necessarily mean there are visible problems with the cards. Personally, I also have many “missing media” warnings that don’t affect anything.
What actually matters is whether you see the missing media icon (like the one in your screenshot) on an AnKing card.
In most cases, resetting local changes resolves this issue. So if you ever find a card from the AnKing deck showing the missing media icon, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’ll help you figure it out!
