Sketchy Medical for step 1& 2- Pepper style no media even after syncing

I have synced my Sketchy Medical for step 1& 2 deck and Duke’s Pathoma, but I still don’t have any of the media/pictures in a lot of the cards. Does anyone know where I can download the media or fix this problem?

Hi Julia,

I see you’re having issues with missing media in your Sketchy Medical deck, even after syncing. This is a common issue with media files in Anki. Let me help you troubleshoot this:

Why media might be missing

Based on information from the AnKing Step Deck FAQ, there are two parts to images in Anki:

  1. The actual image files stored in your media folder
  2. The HTML references to those images in your card fields

When you see missing media icons like in your screenshot, it means you have the HTML references but the actual media files are missing.

How to fix this

Here are some steps to try:

  1. Check media files: Run Tools > Check Media in Anki to confirm which media files are missing.

  2. Sync media completely:

    • Make sure “Synchronize audio and images too” is enabled in your Anki preferences.
    • Try a full sync by going to Preferences > Network, checking “On next sync, force changes in one direction”, then sync and choose “Download”.
  3. Generate media files: Sometimes LaTeX equations need to be generated. Go to Tools > Check Media to generate these files.

  4. Manual media import: If you have access to the media files from another source:

    • You can use AnkiHub’s media import function to import the media files
    • You can import an .apkg file that contains the missing media
  5. Check field protection: In AnkiHub, some fields might be protected by default. If a field is protected, you may need to unprotect it on the AnkiHub website, then reset local changes through the AnkiHub addon tab in Browse.

Other considerations

  • Make sure your Anki version is up to date.
  • If you’re part of a shared deck on AnkiHub, check if others have the same issue.
  • Some media may be missing due to copyright reasons, especially for commercial resources like Sketchy.

If these steps don’t resolve your issue, please let me know what specific steps you’ve already tried, and I can provide more targeted help.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

If you navigate to the deck page in question, it looks like the author of that deck has opted to include the media for the deck separately:

You should be able to find the media there, which can then be imported

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
