Subscribed Deck not Showing Despite Being a Maintainer

I’ve seen topics similar to this but still unsure of where to go. I’m a deck maintainer on another deck on Ankihub, and I can see on the UI within Ankihub that it has over 12k notes.

However, I recently noticed that there weren’t any cards in the deck. Normally, I suspend all cards in a deck for which I’m not using, but I checked the deck in this instance, and the card count is zero.

I had created two other decks prior to becoming a maintainer on this new deck (which I did not create). I deleted the other two decks from my local collection as well as any associated tags or notetypes with those decks.

I have unsubscribed and resubscribed to the deck multiple times, and it is still not showing up in my collection. I have checked deck management options within the Ankihub tab, and nothing out of the ordinary is showing up there either.

To add to the conundrum, I was able to accept a deck/card edit as of yesterday within Ankihub, but upon syncing, there is still an empty deck on my end. I’m unsure of where to go from here.

Any additional help is appreciated.

Hello,

I would be happy to take a look; can you tell me what deck it is?

It’s called MGH Whitebook, under original author Dam_Doc

Just so I’m on the same page:

I see that you’re subscribed to a couple of ā€˜MGH Whitebook’ decks, though neither is authored by Dam_Doc:

I just want to make sure we’re talking about the same deck so I can take a look.

It should be this one: Sign In

Just to confirm: have you tried resetting local changes to that deck yet?

Unsure on that, honestly. Would you mind walking me through the steps for that?

For sure.

This is a tutorial that can walk you through the steps to reset local changes to a deck: Resetting Local Changes

Let me know if that works for you.

Okay I’ll try that first. Before doing this, will it affect any of the other deck users, or mess up any edits that users have submitted, or will it affect the original deck creator?

No, resetting local changes will only reset your local collection (it uses the centralized Ankihub deck as a reference point).

It won’t have any effect on the centralized Ankihub version, or what other users see. It only affects your local collection.

So I reset it and all it brought back was a card saying what the style of card was (e.g., "This is this deck’s card template). But that was the only card. I went into the deck and no cards were suspended, and it was only one card total in the entire deck.

Just off a whim but since you’re the maintainer for the MGH whitebook and you also have one you’ve created. Are they the same cards or are the decks different?

You know what, now that I look at it, that’s exactly the case. Granted, for the new one I’m a maintainer (not owner) on, the card template is different, as far as I know. The deck owner didn’t know how to change the card template to something more desirable without uploading it themself.

Not sure if I shot myself in the foot by accident with having two decks I’m maintaining with the same cards.

I deleted the two MGH decks (I first uploaded a basic card style-based deck and then a cloze-based deck) from my local collection and have only kept the new one for which I’m a maintainer. I still own and maintain the other two decks with suggested edits as they come in since there are subscribers for those and I don’t want to just delete those decks if there are people using them.

Not sure what to do from here, though.

Just wondering about additional advice here. Haven’t heard back on anything, so I wanted to follow up.

@CorellianSmuggler Can you go to AnkiHub > Help > Upload logs and data and post the filename shown?

Here it is:

You’re not actually subscribed to the MGH White Book deck, even though you’re a maintainer…

Yes, I’m currently unsubscribed. I’ve tried subscribing and unsubscribing multiple times. I can resubscribe if needed and sync but in previous times it hasn’t changed anything on my end.

To narrow down the source of issue, you can try this solution:

  1. Subscribe to the deck.
  2. Create a new Anki profile
  3. Log in to AnkiHub in the new profile and sync.

You should definitely see the deck in the new profile. If that’s not the case in your main profile, it suggests an issue there. Let me know.

So I did that, re-synced, and here’s a basic rundown:

  1. My two other ā€œWhitebookā€ decks that I maintain showed back up (not surprised by that).
  2. The ā€œMGH Whitebookā€ deck I’m a maintainer on did not show up with all the cards.
  3. Something I didn’t look closely at last time was the tags for the Cloze deck I made and the other deck I’m a maintainer on - All cards in the deck I own have the tag ā€œMGH_Whitebookā€, but I only see one card in the deck I maintain that has 2 tags: ā€œMGH_Whitebookā€ and a subtag called ā€œ2_DELETEā€. I’m thinking that without realizing it, we may have used the same tag for our decks, but I’m not sure.

Should I try and rename all the tags in the deck I own and then sync? That’s the only thing I can think of doing. Otherwise, things are the same, and the deck I’m maintaining is only showing the one card.

EDIT/Update: So I went ahead and bulk changed all tags for the ā€œAnkiBrain MGH Whitebook Cloze Deckā€ so they weren’t sharing the same tag as the ā€œMGH Whitebook Deckā€. I did this all from my main profile and subsequently tried it in the new Trial Profile I made (both under the same Ankiweb account), and after unsubscribing and resubscribing, it still shows the 1 card for the ā€œMGH Whitebookā€ deck. At this point, seriously lost. I’m not sure if I should consider just deleting/wiping the Cloze Deck I made on Ankihub.

EDIT 2: I keep adding stuff onto this, sorry about that - but I just looked again and it appears that the Card ID’s are the same between both decks on Ankihub. I think what happened was that the deck was downloaded by the owner, changed the card styling to be more optimal, and then reuploaded the exact same deck, just with a different card/note type/style. So at this point I’m wondering if that’s what is interfering with things on my end and if I’ll just need to delete the deck off Ankihub that I originally created in order to maintain this one.
