Here are a few quick things you can try to stop the AnkiHub error box from constantly popping up:

  1. Confirm it’s AnkiHub causing the error

    • Start Anki while holding Shift. This temporarily disables all add-ons.
    • If Anki opens without the popup, it’s almost certainly an add-on (likely AnkiHub) causing it.
  2. Disable only AnkiHub and test

    • Go to Tools β†’ Add-ons.
    • Select AnkiHub and click Disable.
    • Restart Anki and see if the error still appears.
      • If the popup stops: we know it’s the AnkiHub add-on.
      • If it continues: another add-on is likely involved; try disabling other add-ons one by one.
  3. Check that you’re on supported versions

    • In Anki, go to Help β†’ About and note your Anki version.
    • In the add-ons window, select AnkiHub and click View Files β†’ manifest.json (or info in the right pane) to confirm the AnkiHub version.
    • Please post both versions here (e.g. Anki 24.04, AnkiHub 1.x.x). Some versions of Anki + AnkiHub are incompatible and can cause repeated errors.
  4. Fully remove and reinstall AnkiHub

    • In Tools β†’ Add-ons, select AnkiHub β†’ Delete.
    • Restart Anki.
    • Reinstall AnkiHub using the code from our official docs:
      https://community.ankihub.net/docs
    • Restart Anki again and see if the popup returns.
  5. If it’s still happening, please add details
In this topic, could you reply with:

    • A screenshot of the exact error message.
    • Your Anki version (from Help β†’ About).
    • Your operating system (Windows/Mac/Linux, and version).
    • Whether Anki works normally when starting with Shift held down.

Once you share that info (especially the screenshot and versions), we can be much more specific and either suggest a setting fix or confirm if it’s a known bug with your Anki version.

Hello,

If your problem started minutes ago, it’s because we are experiencing temporary server issues, and our developer team is already working on it. Everything should be back to normal soon.
