I’m having trouble accessing the Boards & Beyond sidebar videos. I’m a premium AnkiHub subscriber and a B&B subscriber. When I try to play a sidebar video, it redirects me to the B&B sign-in page within the sidebar itself. I can open Boards & Beyond normally in Safari and watch videos, but the sidebar won’t let me sign in or access the videos.
I’ve already re-installed the latest versions of AnkiHub and Anki but the issue is still happening.
Not sure what else to try — would appreciate any help!

Troubleshooting Boards & Beyond Sidebar Video Access
Hi there! I understand you’re having trouble with the Boards & Beyond videos in the AnkiHub sidebar. Let me help you solve this issue.
The Issue
Based on your description and screenshot, it appears you’re getting stuck in a login loop within the sidebar itself. The B&B login page loads inside the sidebar, but you can’t properly authenticate even though you can access B&B normally through Safari.
Potential Solutions
According to the McGraw Hill Integration FAQ, there are a few things you can try:
-
Check your add-on and Anki versions:
- Ensure you have the latest version of the AnkiHub add-on
- Confirm you’re using the latest version of Anki
-
Try the password option instead of Magic Link:
- The FAQ recommends using the password option rather than the Magic Link for authentication
- The Magic Link opens in a new browser which can cause issues with the sidebar integration
-
Contact B&B Support directly:
-
Known issues:
- There’s a known bug where you might get an “invalid token” error - if this happens, try refreshing and logging in again
- Sessions timeout after 130 minutes of inactivity, requiring you to log in again
Additional Checks
- Verify the B&B sidebar tab is enabled in AnkiHub Config (AnkiHub add-on → Config → Sidebar)
- Make sure you start Anki with an active internet connection
If none of these solutions work, I’d recommend reaching out to B&B support directly as suggested in the FAQ, as they can address specific authentication issues with their platform.
Hello
Just to make sure I’m on the same page: what happens when you try to log into BnB from the sidebar? Are you getting an error message, or is it just doing nothing, or what specifically occurs?
Second from that, you mentioned having updated Anki but just to make triple sure: can you click on your top menu bar - Anki - About Anki and share a screenshot from there?
Hey Brian_BH,
What it looks like when I click the tab,
When I press the Play Button,
After I enter my verified password and email,
No error code, just unresponsive. I’ve done the obvious, like force quit, and restart but it seems like the api/plugin is at issue.
@tkcalibo Can you test again after updating the add-on from Tools > Add-ons > Check for Updates? We just released an update that might help.
