Reading: Why do I have two AnKing decks?

I see that you have two AnKing decks - your original one with cards and a new empty “AnKing Step Deck” with 0 cards that appeared after syncing with a new device. This is a common situation with AnkiHub.

Why you have the second deck

The empty “AnKing Step Deck” appeared because AnkiHub didn’t have a destination set for new cards (also called a “home deck”). When you synced with a new device, AnkiHub created this default deck to potentially store new cards from the subscription.

How to fix it

Since the second deck is empty (0 cards), you can:

  1. Delete the empty deck: Simply right-click on the “AnKing Step Deck” and select “Delete”
  2. Set a home deck: To prevent this from happening again, set your destination for new cards:
    • Open the AnkiHub add-on settings
    • Select your original AnKing deck as the destination for new cards

This will ensure that any new cards from AnkiHub will go to your existing deck rather than creating a new empty deck.

If you need more detailed help with AnkiHub settings, you can check out the AnKing Step Deck Wiki for comprehensive guidance.

should i still subscribe to changes from Anki Hub (my computer asks me this when i delete the anking step deck

I need to search for more specific information about AnkiHub subscriptions and deck deletion to properly answer this question.

Yes, you need to decide whether you want to stay subscribed to changes from AnkiHub or not. This is what’s happening:

Your Options When Deleting the Empty Deck

When you try to delete the empty “AnKing Step Deck,” Anki is asking if you want to:

  1. Just delete the local deck but stay subscribed to the AnkiHub content
  2. Completely unsubscribe from the AnkiHub deck

What to Choose

If you’re actively using the AnKing deck and want to continue receiving updates and new cards:

  • Yes, keep the subscription - This ensures you’ll continue getting updates to the AnKing content
  • After deleting, go to the AnkiHub menu and set your original AnKing deck as the “Home Deck” for new content

If you don’t want to receive any further updates to the AnKing content:

  • Choose to unsubscribe when prompted

What Happens Either Way

  • If you stay subscribed: Your existing cards will remain, and any future updates will download to your designated home deck
  • If you unsubscribe: According to AnkiHub’s documentation, “All your decks will stay, nothing will be removed” - you just won’t receive future updates

You can always subscribe again later if you change your mind.

Would you like me to explain how to set your original AnKing deck as the home deck for new cards after deletion?

Hello,

This issue can be caused by a few different things, but the most important step is identifying which deck contains your cards and which one is synced with AnkiHub.

Please do the following:

  1. In Anki, go to the “AnkiHub” menu at the top.
  2. Click “Deck Management.”
  3. Then click on the “AnKing Step Deck” to see which deck is receiving updates from AnkiHub.

Also, could you please share a screenshot of your Anki main screen showing your decks?

This will help us ensure that:

  • You don’t accidentally delete the deck that’s synced with AnkiHub.
  • You don’t lose any of your existing cards.

Let me know once you’ve done that, and we’ll go from there!
