Why do I have two STEP decks? This is so annoying!

Can I just delete the one that doesn’t say (AnkiHub)? Or do I loose cards in the process?…

Short answer: don’t delete anything yet – first move the cards so you don’t lose progress.

What’s going on
You effectively have:

  • AnKing Step Deck (AnkiHub) → this is the deck that AnkiHub is syncing
  • AnKing Step Deck → this is a local copy / old version not linked to AnkiHub

If you just delete the non‑AnkiHub deck, you can lose cards or your scheduling from that deck.

Safest way to fix it

  1. Back up first

    • In Anki: File → Create Backup…
    • Make sure it completes before changing anything.
  2. Move cards from the old deck into the AnkiHub deck

    • Select the old “AnKing Step Deck” (the one without “(AnkiHub)”).
    • Press B (or Browse) to open the Browser with that deck selected.
    • Ctrl/Cmd + A to select all cards.
    • Right‑click → Change Deck… → choose “AnKing Step Deck (AnkiHub)” → OK.
    • Confirm that the old deck now shows 0 cards.
  3. Delete the now‑empty old deck

    • From the main deck list, click the gear next to “AnKing Step Deck” (no AnkiHub).
    • Choose Delete.
    • Since it should be empty, you won’t lose cards.
  4. Sync with AnkiHub

    • Use the AnkiHub add‑on → Sync with AnkiHub for the Step deck.
    • Make sure there are no errors and the deck count looks right.

If you’re unsure

If your screenshots show that you’ve already learned cards only in the non‑AnkiHub deck and you’re worried about losing scheduling, post a screenshot of:

  • The deck list showing card counts for both decks
  • The Browser with one of the decks selected and the number of cards

I can then suggest whether you should move cards as above or merge in a different way.
